Who will the Cowboys face in the playoffs? Potential opponents for Dak Prescott’s Dallas
Dak Prescott and the Dallas Cowboys are in prime position to snatch the NFC East crown from the Philadelphia Eagles. With their backs against the wall, the Cowboys have had everything go right for them thus far. They clinched a playoff spot a few weeks ago and have been fighting towards the division title ever since.
Right now, they're the fifth seed and the NFC's top Wild Card. At 12-4, they have a great record. Unfortunately, the Eagles are slightly better at 13-3.
With one more game, things can go a variety of different ways and the Cowboys could end up with a lot of different opponents. Here's what their scenarios look like.
Dak Prescott and the Dallas Cowboys: Who might they play?
The Cowboys are assured of being a top-five seed in the NFC. The New York Giants (clinched) and the Seattle Seahawks (currently holding the final seed) aren't going to overtake them.
If the season ended today (or if they finish next week as the fifth seed), they'll head to face Tom Brady and the Tampa Bay Buccaneers. If Dallas win and the Eagles lose, they'll steal the division. If the Eagles win or the Cowboys lose, Dallas will remain the NFC's fifth seed.
If they steal the division, a top-three seed is in play. Right now, the San Francisco 49ers and Minnesota Vikings are 12-4 and have clinched their divisions.
Should Dak Prescott and company win the NFC East, they could end up with the top seed if both Minnesota and San Francisco lose. If either or both of them win this week, then things get murkier.
If the Cowboys end up with the third seed, they'll play the Giants. If they are the second seed, they will play either the Seahawks, Detroit Lions or Green Bay Packers. If they're the top seed, they get the bye week and will await someone in the second round.
Dak Prescott and Dallas Cowboys in Week 18
Everything is currently on the table for the Cowboys, so they will in no way rest any starters. Earning a top three seed is important, and they will need all hands on deck.
