“Who wouldn't take that phone call?” – Colin Cowherd proposes blockbuster Russell Wilson trade after Broncos’ horror showing
Russell Wilson and the Denver Broncos suffered their third straight loss against the Los Angeles Chargers on Monday Night Football. In what was another low-scoring primetime game, the Chargers won 19-16 in overtime via a walk-off field goal by Dustin Hopkins.
The Broncos are now 2-4 and their hopes of making the playoffs from a tough AFC West are diminishing significantly as we progress further into the season. Wilson's acquisition hasn't worked at all for the Broncos and there are growing concerns around the franchise.
Time is running out for the Broncos, and Colin Cowherd thinks a blockbuster trade could work well for both parties. Cowherd believes the Arizona Cardinals and the Denver Broncos should look for a direct swap of their quarterbacks. He thinks Kyler Murray in Denver and Russell Wilson in Arizona would make the situation better for both teams. Here's what he said on the Herd with Colin Cowherd:
"If Arizona doesn't solve this, if Denver doesn't solve it, who wouldn't take that phone call? Arizona Kyler Murray does not trust the owner, the GM of the coach. Fresh Start."
He continued:
"Denver gets what they want. And by the way, Russell's an older Kyler. Arizona is like we like Kyler, he's not coachable. That's not an issue with Russell. You think this is crazy? Both have to solve an issue, by the way, both have contracts you can't get out of. You could with a trade."
The Arizona Cardinals are off to a poor start this season. Murray hasn't been able to prove his worth to the franchise since signing a big contract in the summer. The direct swap proposed by Cowherd could work well for both teams. However, it is unlikely that the Cardinals will trade a young Kyler Murray for an aging Russell Wilson, who hasn't looked good either.
Time is running out for Russell Wilson and the Broncos
The Broncos are 2-4 to start the season and if they don't get positive results soon, their campaign might very well be over. They will face the New York Jets next week, and if they lose again, their fans will start to panic.
The Jets are playing well and have just caused a massive upset over the Green Bay Packers, who are also struggling offensively.
Russell Wilson is under immense pressure and needs to turn things around quickly/ Otherwise he will face similar treatment from the media like Russell Westbrook of the Los Angeles Lakers.
