Why is Jerry Jones suing Alexandra & Cynthia Davis? Cowboys owner goes on the offensive over paternity claims
Jerry Jones was accused of being Alexandra Davis' father, a claim that made it to court. Now, the Dallas Cowboys owner is suing the woman and the mother. He is alleging that they breached a contract signed 20 years ago. Davis initially sued for defamation after she claimed the team owner "attacked" her character to dispute the claims that Jones is her biological father.
That suit was initially partially dropped, then she refiled, but the suit was fully dropped after that. Now, it's Jones' turn to go on the offensive and he's taking the lawsuit to the Davis family.
Jones did pay Davis and her mother millions of dollars over the years as part of the contract he alleges they breached. The Cowboys owner also claims that they made a $20 million request a few years ago, something he and his legal team considered extortion.
According to Queen City News, Jones had a relationship with Cynthia Davis, resulting in the birth of Alexandra Davis. They entered a contract that he'd support them financially if they did not reveal that he was Davis' father, something they have now revealed to the world.
Jerry Jones' attorney speaks up on pending lawsuit
Jerry Jones might have admitted that he is Alexandra Davis' father, but that didn't cost him the lawsuit. Her suit was thrown out, and his case will see a jury in a few weeks.
His attorney, Chip Babcock, said via Dallas News:
“It’s a case where the judge has given it very, very thorough and careful attention and we’re looking forward to trying the case not as much for the money, although there’s significant money involved, but rather to uphold the fact that when you make a deal and one side lives up to the deal as Mr. Jones did, the other side should too. Our view is that they didn’t live up to it and we did.”
Jones' legal team denied the claims made by Alexandra Davis. They claimed that the allegations were false and held no merit. The jury for the case is expected to be selected in two weeks.
