Why was Tyreek Hill detained? Dolphins WR in handcuffs hours before Jaguars game
The Miami Dolphins' season-opener against the Jacksonville Jaguars is less than two hours away and Tyreek Hill has found himself in an unexpected legal situation. On Sunday, the Dolphins wide receiver was detained outside Hard Rock Stadium in Florida.
Why was Tyreek Hill detained?
According to NFL insider Adam Schefter, police detained Tyreek Hill while he was driving his black Lamborghini to the stadium. DL Calais Campbell was reportedly with him. According to Hill's agent Drew Rosenhaus, the wide receiver was detained for a driving violation.
However, Hill has since been released and will play in the game against the Jaguars.
Rosenhaus told Schefter:
"I just left Tyreek and he is getting ready to play today."
In clips circulating on social media platform X, Hill can be seen sitting on the road, while the officials tie his hands. According to people on the scene, Calais Campbell was also present in Hill's car. However, there is no confirmation regarding the defensive tackle's arrest.
Per Jeff Darlington, Hill got into a verbal altercation with the police after being pulled over, which led to officers placing him in handcuffs. Hill was then cited and released after the situation was de-escalated.
