"Wildly confusing" - NFL analyst claims Bucs star Baker Mayfield will reveal Todd Bowles truth after Tom Brady era

Multiple months have passed since Tom Brady threw his last pass in the NFL. Looking back on the season that was, pundits are still undecided about what they saw. Speaking on Good Morning Football, NFL analyst Jamie Erdahl explained the state of the team as one cloaked in mystery.

The 2023 season could reveal several answers, including the role Bowles truly played in Tom Brady's final season. Here's how she put it:

Will Todd Bowles finish over .500 in 2023?

She said:

"Did Tom Brady make Todd Bowles a good coach? Is Todd Bowles already a good head coach? What's going on with the Bucs head coaching experience in Tampa Bay? Is Baker Mayfield the guy that they are going to commit to or is he a stop over? What do the Buccaneers do in the draft? This team is wildly confusing."
What is the biggest question mark in the NFC South❓❓❓

@JamieErdahl's is in Tampa Bay... https://t.co/NzvqhVyYJa

She continued, explaining that the mere arrival of Baker Mayfield hasn't made anything much more clear:

"They have great wide receivers. Last year, the whole season. The question marks surrounding Tampa Bay with Tom Brady at quarterback... the list was so long. Now you got Baker Mayfield at quarterback. I can't imagine the list is going to get any shorter when it comes to these questions."
From Tom Brady’s @Autograph retirement party…the first pass he threw was (naturally) to Gronk. Brady said of playing with him: “His humility and his ability to have these amazing moments that seem so ordinary and that he makes seem so simple, are what make him so special.” https://t.co/VYzxAw6MKo

Tom Brady survives six-week retirement milestone

No. 12 at Carolina Panthers v Tampa Bay Buccaneers
No. 12 at Carolina Panthers v Tampa Bay Buccaneers

The former Buccaneers quarterback retired on the same day in 2023 that he did in 2022. Just like a year ago, fans locked in on the quarterback to see if he was serious about stepping away from the game. After six weeks, he blinked, returning to the league for what appears to now have been one last ride.

This year, fans kept a close eye on the once again newly-retired quarterback to see if he would last longer away from the gridiron than last time. With April now on the horizon, the quarterback has outlasted the six-week bar he essentially set for himself.

Of course, that isn't enough for some fans, who hope to see the quarterback in the saddle once again in 2023.

At this point, however, fans will be forced to wait for what increasingly becomes a smaller chance of a return.
