Will Bears consider trading Justin Fields to draft Bryce Young? Former NFL GM weighs in on speculation

The future of Chicago Bears quarterback Justin Fields has been a topic of hot discussion of late. With the quarterback still struggling to adapt to the rigors of the NFL, while also complaining about Chicago's weather, some think he might be traded.

With talented quarterbacks in this year's NFL Draft, some think the Bears could bite the bullet and part ways with Fields. The likes of Bryce Young and CJ Stroud are the two names that many think the Bears could take.

Given the Bears have the first pick in the draft, the world is their oyster at the moment. But could they actually move on from Fields? Former general manager Rick Spielman gave his thoughts on it.

Spielman said, via With the First Pick Podcast:

"I would say absolutely not, and the reason I say that is, you know what you have in Fields. He's progressed from year one. He was much better in year two, particularly because he's such a phenomenal athlete with his legs. He improved as a thrower, but still has a way to go."

"But can you imagine if you traded away Justin Fields in year three? He hit it like Hurts hit it this year or even Tua hit it this year. How sick are you going to be? And then you're going to go with another young qb, who, I'm a huge Bryce Young fan, then you're starting back over from scratch."

What does the future hold for Justin Fields?

The jury is still out on what exactly will happen to the young quarterback in Chicago. He has shown flashes of his incredible talent, but for many, that has been far too fleeting and not consistent enough.

Spielman does have a point though. If the Bears do move on and the former Ohio star improves like Hurts or Tagovailoa, then Chicago will again have egg on its face. That thought in itself could be enough for the organization to stick with him.

It does promise to be an interesting watch come draft day. Do the Bears use their pick to get another weapon? Or do they draft Stroud or Young?

What exactly will they do? Your guess is as good as ours.
