Will Tom Brady return in 2023? Ex-NFL QB files official letter to end comeback talks

When Tom Brady retired for the first time a year ago, there was a sense that the seven-time Super Bowl champion might return for another season ... and he did.

Now, after retiring for a second time, that same thought was still there. Despite his heartfelt message via social media, there was a hint that he might return for a 24th season. Well, that has now been squashed.

Who will win the Super Bowl?

Per ESPN's Adam Schefter, Brady has now lodged the paperwork to reaffirm his retirement, meaning that is it now 100% official.

"Tom Brady officially filed a letter today with the NFL and NFLPA, reconfirming his Feb. 1 retirement, per sources," Schefter tweeted. "This letter silences any questions about whether Brady might return and now makes him eligible for the Pro Football Hall of Fame, Class of 2028."

So, while there were some who thought that the quarterback might try for one more run at a Super Bowl, he is officially retired. That ends what many are calling the greatest sporting career ever. While that is a big statement, it is hard to argue as the 45-year-old did everything in the game.

The now-former quarterback still has plenty of irons in the fire. While his NFL career is over after 23 years, his attention can turn to his many off-field plans.

He has the TB12 Method, along with his clothing line, Brady Brand, not to mention his 10-year broadcasting deal with Fox Sports which is due to start in 2024.

So, if there were people thinking that Brady would simply sit on the couch and enjoy life, think again. Family time likely has a big importance now as he can get the quality time with his children that he otherwise couldn't have got while playing football.

With his retirement official, Brady can ride off into the sunset and onto the next phase of his life.
