"That's going to be a big distraction": WWE veteran sounds alarm for Travis Kelce amid Taylor Swift's political stance

Travis Kelce and Taylor Swift are arguably the first couple of the NFL. In a league filled with celebrities, the two might be on top. As such, any developments involving them generate significant media attention. This appears to be happening in the wake of Swift declaring her endorsement of presidential hopeful Kamala Harris.

At least, that's what one WWE veteran believes. Speaking on Sportskeeda's "The Coach and the Bro" podcast, WWE veteran Vince Russo predicted that the endorsement could lead to problems for the Kansas City Chiefs.

"If I'm Kelce, I got an issue with this. ... So, what she basically did was she just basically pissed off half of her audience. There's gonna be pushback on Kelce for that. He's going to feel that," he said. (18:25)
"I think that's going to be an even bigger distraction. Also, Mahomes' wife is on the other side of that political fence now... rumor has it, these two used to be best buds, going everywhere together. Rumor has it, they weren't even sitting in the booth next to each other. ... We're gonna have this war with the wives and the girlfriends," he said.

If the spouses get embroiled in a conflict, it may create an awkward chemistry between Kelce and Patrick Mahomes.

Considering the two historically have been the lifeblood of the offense, any chemistry issues could become magnified on the field in tense situations, especially in the post-Tyreek Hill era.

At this point, with both Brittany Mahomes and Taylor Swift taking opposing sides in the presidential race, the seed of conflict has been planted. Whether it has been addressed between the two is unknown.

Speaking on FOX News after the debate with Harris on Tuesday, Donald Trump applauded Brittany Mahomes' decision and responded to Swift's choice.

“Well, I actually like Mrs. Mahomes much better," said Trump. “I was not a Taylor Swift fan ... she'll probably pay a price for it in the marketplace.”

Trump's comments appeared to give a nod to one of the big no-nos of business. Put simply, making public endorsements of political candidates can shrink a customer base for a time, costing revenue. In terms of Swift's endorsement of Harris, she may have rubbed some fans the wrong way, costing herself some album sales.
