“You must be very a*s at your job” – Eagles’ Darius Slay burns Philly journo’s argument to the ground
Darius Slay had a wild ride in free agency, even though he's ended up remaining with the Philadelphia Eagles. The cornerback was set to be released by the team - and even issued a goodbye to the fans - but later had his contract restructured and is remaining in Pennsylvania.
Keeping Slay and James Bradberry has to be the Eagles' biggest win this offseason, as the team was close to losing both starting cornerbacks after an excellent season. Even though they suffered losses in the secondary, mainly to the safety position, the starting cornerback duo had two superstars and keeping them together was vital.
But Slay went hard after a Philadelphia Eagles reporter on Monday. Mike Miss, host of "The Mike Missanelli Podcast", replied to a tweet saying that 'he wasn't a very good corner last year'. It was fitting to remind the reporter who had the best passing defense in the 2022 season:
Darius Slay almost left the Philadelphia Eagles but remains with the team
Entering the final year of his contract and with a high cap hit, the cornerback was set to leave Philadelphia through a trade. However, there was an allowance by the franchise for him and his agent to look at after a deal.
This was all before the following words came from a tweet by Adam Schefter, ESPN's NFL insider:
"Eagles never officially released CB Darius Slay today and now one source said that the Pro-Bowl CB is “expected to stay with the Eagles. It’s not final, but that’s the way it is looking right now.” A new deal could be in the works."
The team found a way to keep him via a new contract. Not only that, the Eagles were able to keep James Bradberry as well, as they signed him to a three-year, $43 million contract after he hit free agency.
To say that he was a good corner last season was an understatement. He was one of the best alongside James Bradberry. This partnership should allow both players to shine for a long time. Anyone who thinks differently probably didn't watch many Eagles games last season.
