"You need a A-HOLE" - 3x Patriots Super Bowl champ makes feelings known on Mike Vrabel's potential fit with Bears
Longtime New England Patriots receiver Julian Edelman, who won three Super Bowls, believes the Chicago Bears need to hire Mike Vrabel as their new head coach. The Bears fired Matt Eberflus on Nov. 30 and will look to hire a new head coach in the offseason.
Chicago will have plenty of options, but one name that has come up is Vrabel and Edelman believes the Bears should hire him if he's interested.
"If he was interested in the Bears, they should definitely hire him. They need a culture guy," Edelman said on The Herd with Colin Cowherd, at 3:27.
"They need someone that's going to grab someone by the back of the neck ... They need an accountability guy. You know, it's very similar to the Detroit thing with the historical, you know, the amount of losses that they've had historically in Detroit, they needed a culture guy to go get MCDC [Motor City Dan Campbell]...
"This guy [Mike Vrabel] is a savant when it comes to football. That's the kind of guy he [Mike Vrabel] is, and that's the kind of guy you need. You need an A-Hole. That's what they're lacking in that locker room. There's way too much noise."
According to NFL insider Albert Breer, Vrabel is one of the top options for the Bears' vacant coaching options.
Vrabel was the head coach of the Tennessee Titans from 2018 until 2023. He went 54-45 as the coach of the Titans and after being fired, he took a consultant role with the Cleveland Browns.
Julian Edelman explains why he didn't join Brady with the Buccaneers
Julian Edelman spent his entire NFL career with the New England Patriots. As Tom Brady and Rob Gronkowski left the Patriots for the Tampa Bay Buccaneers, Edelman didn't follow suit.
Instead, the receiver says he needed to go down with the ship and had to see it through with New England.
“I was under contract, Rob,” Edelman said, via NESN. “I had to go down with the ship, buddy. I had to go down with the ship. Have you seen ‘Titanic’? You know the old captain? You know the violin guy? I’m playing the violin.”
Edelman, meanwhile, finished his career with 6,822 yards and 36 touchdowns. He won Super Bowl MVP at Super Bowl LIII.
