"You're just a criminal thug a**" - Seahawks icon Marshawn Lynch opens up on infamous roadside arrest
Former Seattle Seahawks legend Marshawn Lynch opened up about his infamous roadside arrest last year. He was arrested under the influence of alcohol and was pulled out by cops from a stationary car.
He has now opened up about the entire fiasco. He revealed that those in the media, who earlier wanted access to him as a famous sportsperson, started stereotyping him as a thug. He said:
"From remembering the last time I got in trouble, everybody from the media, they pop out. 'Oh yeah. How you doing after a game? How you doing? Then ni**a fell back on hard times. And then they get that all we knew you was a fucking; you're just a criminal thug a**. That's the type of ni**a you is, and that's who your person is."
Lynch also said that he has moved on from all the hype the entire event generated:
"And then what just happened is I see a couple bad apples in the bunch, and it's spoiled the whole sh*t. So you on that weird ass shi* and then you telling me what I got to do off the fact where I'm just to the point where you know, I was over all of the hype sh*t."
Marshawn Lynch also took offense at people asking about such things during his career, reiterating that what happened was not something that was premeditated. He clarified:
"As I seen that sh*t just going through my whole career, it was more so like me. All the sh*t they don't ask me is the same sh*t that they've asked me for this whole time like, yeah man I'm over that type of sh*t when premeditated because I didn't know I was gonna do that shit."
Revisiting Marshawn Lynch's arrest
Marshawn Lynch was arrested last year in Las Vegas for misdemeanors including suspicion of driving under the influence, driving an unregistered vehicle, failing to surrender proof of security and failing to drive in a travel lane. A video of his arrest went viral.
Lynch and his lawyers have contested the charges, saying,
"Marshawn was not pulled over for a DUI. Rather the vehicle was safely parked and not in operation. We are confident that when all evidence is presented, this will not be a DUI under Nevada law. Marshawn appreciates and is thankful for everyone’s concern and support."
He was previously involved in a hit-and-run case in 2008, which saw his driver's license revoked. In 2012, he had to spend time on probation for reckless driving.
