Zach Wilson makes game plan clear ahead of Week 15 Lions showdown – “Worst has already happened”
It's Zach Wilson time for the New York Jets as we head into Week 15. After the 2021 second overall pick was benched following a dismal start to the season, Mike White took his place. And while White performed admirably, he was ruled out for Week 15 after picking up an injury last week.
Wilson will now (temporarily) reclaim his place as the Jets' starting quarterback, head coach Robert Saleh revealed this week. The Jets will be up against the high-flying Detroit Lions in Week 15 and Wilson has a great chance of redemption.
Many thought Wilson's time with the New York Jets was over, but if he performs well against the Lions, he just might silence many of his naysayers. Given what's at stake for him, he's also extremely confident going into this game.
Interested in betting? Zach Wilson's elevation to QB1 has seemingly shifted the odds in favor of the Lions in Week 15.
As per the NY Post, here's what Zach Wilson said ahead of the Week 15 game against the Lions:
"The worst has already happened, right? For me, personally, I’m going to just have fun and whatever happens, happens. I’m going to do whatever is best for the team, and that’s out of my control if they make that change down the road.”
Wilson added:
"Of course, the mindset has to be I’m going to do the best I can every play, but I’m not going to go out there with any expectations of whatever. Like with winning and the playoffs, that kind of thing takes care of itself if you do the things you are supposed to do.”
Both the Jets and the Lions are still in contention for the playoffs, so this is a crucial game for both. The Detroit Lions enter this game with five wins from their last six, with quarterback Jared Goff also showing off his cannon of an arm.
Their defense has also improved as the season has progressed, and Wilson must be cautious while facing them on Sunday.
Make-or-break game awaitw Zach Wilson in Week 15
If Zach Wilson puts up anything close to an awful performance this week, things could get ugly for the 2021 second overall pick.
He has a golden opportunity to redeem himself and gain the trust of his teammates, and if Wilson messes this up, the future could be sticky in the Big Apple.
After Wilson was announced as the starter for Sunday, the line moved in favor of the Detroit Lions and they are now the favorites heading into this game. It will be interesting to see how events unfold with Wilson and the Jets in Week 15.
