NFL Combine 2019: What is NFL Combine, Schedule, Where to Watch Information
What is the NFL Combine?
Taking place every year at the Lucas Oil Stadium in Indianapolis is the NFL Scouting Combine which sees college football players comprising the selection pool for the upcoming NFL Draft perform physical and mental tests in a benchmarked setting.
The entire event takes place with the coaches, scouts and the managers of NFL franchises in attendance. This gives the participating athletes an opportunity to increase their stock before the actual draft goes down thereby impacting their final draft position, their contract, and ultimately their career.
It acts as a second chance for players who did not have that great a college season but boast of the attributes that matter - strength, speed, and size. Some of the popular evaluations include the 40-yard dash, the 225 lb bench press, the vertical jump and the 3 cone drill.
NFL Combine Schedule
In order to streamline the entire process, participating players are divided into different groups based on their playing positions and arrive in Indianapolis accordingly.
The day of arrival and the next couple of days for each group involves off-field activities such as registration, hospital pre-exam, physical measurements including weigh-ins, psychological tests, NFLPA meeting, interviews and so on. Only three days after arrival does a group of players take to the field for workouts and depart the venue the very same day.
