NFL Draft 2023: Insiders predict Justin Herbert’s Chargers to land Jordan Addison

USC wide receiver Jordan Addison is one of the best wideouts in the 2023 NFL draft class. He spent the first two years of his collegiate career at the University of Pittsburgh before transferring to USC last year for his junior season.

He's had two productive seasons over the last two years on two different teams. He's one of the fastest and most agile receivers in the draft class, and he has the tools to be a threat all over the field.

At least five defenders were in the area of Jordan Addison after making this catch, and he turned it into an explosive play.

Even though the draft is nearly two months away, many news outlets have already put together mock drafts. The Athletic's NFL reporters put out a mock draft this morning, predicting that the Los Angeles Chargers would draft Addison at No. 22 overall.

Addison can play outside and in the slot and would be a deep threat for quarterback Justin Herbert.

The 2021 Biletnikoff winner recorded 100 receptions for 1,593 yards and 17 touchdowns.

Last season, with the USC Trojans, he recorded 59 receptions for 875 yards and four scores.

Addison going to the Chargers makes a lot of sense. There have been early rumors that the team could possibly move on from wide receiver Keenan Allen.

Daniel Popper, a staff writer and insider for the Los Angeles Chargers, wrote in an article on The Athletic that Allen and tight end Gerald Everett are the two most-likely candidates to be cut this off-season by the Chargers.

LAC can save $14.8 million in cap space by releasing Allen and $4.25 million by cutting Everett.

The Chargers are currently $23.4M over the cap.

If released, the Chargers would save $19.05 million toward the cap.

They'll face some tough business decisions, but they need to clear up some space to get under the cap limit.

Everett is coming off arguably the best season of his career as he set career-highs in receptions (58) and yards (555) and tied for the most touchdowns in a single-season with four.

Allen has been with the team since 2013 and has put up five 1,000-plus yard seasons while scoring 52 total touchdowns.
