NFL Draft Rumors: Colts frontrunners to land Kentucky QB Will Levis as Lamar Jackson saga continues
Could the Indianapolis Colts select Will Levis as their next franchise quarterback? Rumors are starting to swirl up that Indy could select Levis with the fourth-overall pick in the draft.
The Colts moved on from quarterback Matt Ryan after signing him last off-season as they released him on March 18, 2023. The team has signed Gardner Minshew this off-season and is likely to serve as the team's backup quarterback this year.
ESPN football insider Jeremy Fowler said on a segment of SportsCenter that there is a buzz about the Colts going after Levis.
"Will Levis and the Colts, there is a little bit of buzz league wide about that pairing at No. 4 overall. I texted with Kentucky coach Mark Stoops, who coached Levis for a few years with the Wildcats. He said, 'I can just say the Colts have done their homework on Levis and left it at that. Now, they've done their homework on a lot of guys, but I talked to several teams who believe that there could be something there.
"He fits the prototype of what the Colts have typically liked in a quarterback. They like that big, sturdy, pocket-passer. So, he's got that in spades. He's not for everybody. Not every team has loved his makeup or the way he plays, but he's got a lot of supporters as well.”

The Colts will be in a good position to select Levis or a franchise quarterback of their choice at pick number four. However, two of the three teams (Carolina Panthers and Houston Texans) will likely select quarterbacks and Indy could potentially pass up on selecting a quarterback.
Could the Indianapolis Colts go after Lamar Jackson?
The Colts may not be able to select a quarterback of their liking with the fourth-overall pick. The top-two rated quarterbacks will likely be gone (CJ Stroud and Bryce Young) and other quarterbacks available at pick No. 4 could be Anthony Richardson, Will Levis, and Hendon Hooker.
A team could also trade to pick number three right in front of the Colts and select a quarterback.
If the Colts do not have a QB of their choice at pick No. 4, maybe they would think about the possibility of trading for Lamar Jackson.
Jackson requested a trade out of Baltimore after being franchise tagged and could be a target of the Colts.
