NFL rigged? How star players reacted to ridiculous leaked 'NFL script'
Former NFL running back Arian Foster recently shocked the sports world with his polarizing comments about football being rigged and scripted.
He has sparked intense debates throughout the entire NFL world about whether or not he was being serious or sarcastic. Foster has called into question the integrity of the game, comparing it more to sports-entertainment like the WWE than an actual sporting competition.
Arian Foster dropped the bomb when he recently appeared on the "Macrodosing" podcast presented by Barstool Sports. When asked about the NFL possibly being scripted rather than legitimate, Foster gave this shocking quote about the way things work in the league:
"That’s what practice was about. It was about practicing the script. This is what goes on, this is what we have to do. It’s like we know what’s going to happen, but you still gotta put on a show."
Foster's shocking comments have caused quite a commotion around the NFL. Many players have chimed in on their opinions on it, with many of them making jokes. In an article outlined by Fox News, several players were recently asked about this insane development during the 2023 Pro Bowl.
The San Francisco 49ers were recently eliminated from the NFL playoffs after a frustrating loss to the Philadelphia Eagles. This was a defeat in which they suffered injuries to both their quarterbacks. Trent Williams leaned into this unfortunate storyline when commenting about the alleged script for the 2022 NFL season.
"How are we gonna play the NFC Championship without a quarterback? Luckily, I missed that part because I wouldn’t even showed up if I knew that was gonna happen."
George Kittle expressed a similar sarcasm to the way the "script" was written for the 49ers this year:
"My first read through was really fun. They didn’t send the playoff one until the playoffs hit. So, after that, I was a little shook."
Joining in on the sarcastic remarks about the script in question was Jalen Ramsey. He played into the success of his Los Angeles Rams winning the Super Bowl last year, but had a down season this campaign. He was direct about how he felt about the 2022 "script" for his team.
"It was s**t for the Rams."
Many fans and analysts around the NFL have been debating the validity of Arian Foster's comments. However, it seems most of the players who have been asked about it haven't taken the comments too seriously. They have instead taken the route of turning it into a joke.
The question is, are they deflecting because they know it's true? Or were the comments so absurd that all they could do was laugh about it?
Is the NFL really scripted like WWE?
WWE is one of the most successful sports-entertainment companies of all time. It's well-known that the storylines themselves have been scripted and the outcomes of the matches are predetermined.
This doesn't mean the participants aren't elite athletes. It takes a ton of skill and athleticism to pull off what they do so successfully, while making the action look as real as possible as well.
This is the exact format that Arian Foster was referring to. He explained that it takes a ton of practice to be able to pull off the "script" they are given by the NFL, but everything is predetermined.
There is no way of knowing for sure if this is the case because no physical proof of a real script has ever been discovered. There is also a lack of support from any other former player in his claims. It's hard to imagine that his controversial statement is indeed factual and it could be that he's just having some fun.
