NFL Trade Rumors: Insider reveals Rams' offers for Jalen Ramsey
Los Angeles Rams defensive back Jalen Ramsey was unexpectedly put on the trade block about two weeks ago. NFL insider Tom Pelissero broke the news that the team has had trade talks regarding Ramsey, and it's very likely that he will be dealt with in the coming weeks.
NFL Network reporter Ian Rapoport reported that the Rams could get a first-round pick in return for Ramsey as they have a lot of teams interested in the All-Pro cornerback.
“I know they’ve had some interest in Jalen Ramsey. They have had conversations over the last couple of weeks as they look to maybe trim some payroll and reallocate some resources."
It's no surprise that the Rams could get a first-round pick for Ramsey. When the Jaguars traded him to Los Angeles in 2019, they got two first-round picks and a fourth-round pick in return for Ramsey.
The cornerback was a few years younger when he was traded but will only be 28 years old at the start of the season.
He's also coming off one of the most productive seasons of his career. He recorded a career-high in tackles (88), pass deflections (18), forced fumbles (3), and tied in interceptions (4), and fumble recoveries (1).
Teams that could trade for Jalen Ramsey
While many teams are interested in Ramsey, only one will be able to acquire him.
The Jacksonville Jaguars could possibly try to get the cornerback that they drafted away back in 2019. He shone in Duval and led them to the 2018 AFC Championship game and the team is on the rise again.
The Dallas Cowboys have expressed interest in Ramsey. Jerry Jones almost selected him back in the 2016 NFL Draft but took Ezekiel Elliot instead as Ramsey was taken a pick after him.
The Chicago Bears are a rebuilding team and have the most cap space, and will likely obtain a ton of draft picks if/when they trade the number one overall pick. They will have the assets and money to acquire Ramsey.
In his career, Jalen Ramsey has earned six Pro Bowls, three first-team All-Pros, is a Super Bowl champion and a national champion in college. He is one of the most physical lockdown cornerbacks in the NFL still. He will have a lot to offer whichever team he goes to.
