NFL Trade Rumors: Packers GM reveals expectations of returning assets in Aaron Rodgers’ Jets trade

Green Bay Packers quarterback Aaron Rodgers is almost guaranteed to be traded this off-season, and Packers general manager Brian Gutekunst all but confirmed that today.

At the league owners' meeting today, Gutekunst answered multiple questions regarding trading Aaron Rodgers.

The Packers are going to be patient with taking their time trading Rodgers as they're looking for the right compensation in return for Rodgers.

When asked what the team is looking for in return for Rodgers, Gutekunst said that they might not necessarily get/need a first-round pick in return for Rodgers, but he's looking for premier picks for a premier player.

Gutekunst said:

"I want all the picks."
"I think that’s not a necessity, but at the same time, the value of the player – he’s a premier player, so getting premier picks back for (premier) players is important."
Does Brian Gutekunst want the No. 13 pick from the Jets?

"I want all the picks."

But for real...

"I think that’s not a necessity, but at the same time, the value of the player – he’s a premier player, so getting premier picks back for (premier) players is important."

Gutekunst also said that there is no timetable for trading Rodgers and shut down the idea of Rodgers playing for the Packers this season.

#Packers GM Brian Gutekunst just met with a small group of media here in Phoenix.

- No timeline on trading Aaron Rodgers, hoping soon
- Doesn’t necessarily need a first-round pick
- Any chance Rodgers plays for GB again? Not trending that way but “all options are on the table”

The Jets currently own the 13th overall pick in the draft and might be able to keep that pick upon acquiring Rodgers. They have six total picks in the draft, including two second-round picks.

They could package both of their second-round picks or just one of them plus a future pick or player in return for Rodgers.

The Green Bay Packers are prepared to move forward with Jordan Love as their franchise quarterback

Brian Gutekunst answered questions for 17 minutes on Monday regarding Aaron Rodgers and the quarterback situation.

With Jordan Love expected to start once Rodgers leaves, he praised Love and is excited about Love leading the team for the foreseeable future.

Gutekunst said:

"We're excited about what Jordan can do for us and our whole team will come together around that."
"Jordan's been put in some tough situations, just like Aaron was way back in his time. I think it's really a credit to Jordan how he's handled that and how professional he's been through this, him and his representatives and we've been in kind of constant communication with them and him and I think he's got a really good outlook on this.
"He understands there's so much out of his control, but I know he's really preparing, and I think he's really excited for this opportunity and we are as well."

The Packers liked Love so much that they traded up six spots in the 2020 NFL Draft with the Miami Dolphins to select Love.

Love didn't see the field during his rookie season. In his second season, he started one game while appearing in six games, throwing for 411 yards, two touchdowns, and three interceptions. He started one game this season and completed 14 out of 21 passes for 195 yards and a touchdown.
