Only 5 NFL teams who have more playoffs wins than Tom Brady ft. Dallas Cowboys
Tom Brady is physically out of the 2023 NFL playoffs, but his name remains etched on the list of entities with the most playoff wins.
The Tampa Bay Buccaneers quarterback owns more wins than all but five teams in the league. Of course, Brady has only been around since the turn of the century, while every other franchise has been around longer.
Most teams have been around for at least 50 years, but "TB12's" collection of playoff wins eclipses all but a handful of teams and even then it's close. At the end of his 2022-2023 season, Brady will have 35 playoff wins. Which NFL teams have more than him?
#5 San Francisco 49ers (35)
The San Francisco 49ers are tied with Tom Brady on 35 playoff wins, but at the conclusion of this weekend, they could pass him. Between the Joe Montana, Steve Young, Colin Kaepernick, and Jimmy Garoppolo eras, the team has had plenty of success over the decades.
Which franchise will have the most playoff wins at the end of the 2022 NFL season?
With one more solid performance over four quarters against the Dallas Cowboys, the 49ers will have 36 playoff wins and one more than Tom Brady. Will third-string phenom Brock Purdy be able to get it done?
#4 Green Bay Packers (36)
For a moment this season, it seemed like the Green Bay Packers were the team to beat in the NFC after riding a win streak to revive from 4-8 to become a playoff contender. However, due to a Week 18 collapse, Aaron Rodgers and Co. did not get the chance to add to Green Bay's playoff win total this season.
As such, Tom Brady trails the Packers in playoff wins for the moment by one win. The Packers can thank Bart Starr, Brett Favre, and Aaron Rodgers for all they've done to add to the franchise's totals over the last 60 years.
#3 Pittsburgh Steelers (36)
The Pittsburgh Steelers, like the Green Bay Packers, came out of nowhere to contend for the final playoff spot this season.
In the process, Mike Tomlin's streak of finishing seasons over .500 was saved. Thanks to him, Bill Cowher, and Chuck Noll, the Steelers have had plenty of success over the decades.
As it stands, the Steelers are in third place for total number of franchise playoff wins. They're tied with the Green Bay Packers and could be tied with the San Francisco 49ers after the weekend concludes.
Pittsburgh is also tied with the Dallas Cowboys, who eliminated Tom Brady and the Bucs last week and could make history in a number of ways in the coming days.
#2 Dallas Cowboys (36)
Tom Brady was tied with the Dallas Cowboys until the two entities battled on Wild Card Weekend.
Had Brady won the game, he would have taken the lead over the Cowboys with 36 playoff wins to Dallas' 35. Instead, Dak Prescott and Co. brought the franchise within one playoff win of a tie for the lead in this category.
The Cowboys have been the butt of various jokes and jabs in recent decades due to an inability to string playoff wins together. However, Dallas was such a force to be reckoned with that their playoff win total has mostly held up since the turn of the century.
Between the Tom Landry and Jimmy Johnson eras, the Cowboys were in the playoffs almost every year between 1966 and 1985. From 1991 to 1996, the team also made several deep playoff runs.
Put simply, one deep playoff run can make up for years of struggle in this category. Will the Cowboys be able to add onto their playoff win total and reach their first NFC Championship game since the 1990s this year?
#1 New England Patriots (37)
At the top comes Tom Brady's former team, the New England Patriots. The quarterback helped the team to most of their success when he was there.
New England gets credit for the wins, however, regardless of who contributed to their success. This also means that without the 30 playoff wins Brady brought to the franchise, they may not have ranked highly on the list at all.
However, "TB12" was part of the team and they did succeed, so they rightfully own the top spot.
Will the Dallas Cowboys or San Francisco 49ers steal the top spot before the final snap of the 2022-23 season?
