Patrick Mahomes' brother Jackson once again faces backlash for social media posts

Patrick Mahomes is widely regarded as the next face of the NFL, projected to follow in Tom Brady's footsteps in terms of success and legendary status. But 2021 has been a challenge for Patrick Mahomes and the Kansas City Chiefs as they struggle to keep their hold on a playoff berth. However, Mahomes has also had to contend with a different kind of challenge, one closer to home.

Patrick's brother, Jackson Mahomes, a budding Tiktok/social media personality, has drawn some negative press in recent times, with a slew of incidents that have raised quite a few eyebrows.

The first of which occurred when the Chiefs faced the Baltimore Ravens. Upon exiting a suite at M&T Bank Stadium, Jackson Mahomes was filmed appearing to dump a bottle of water on a Raven fans below him in the general section. Mahomes was forced to address the matter during the post-game press conference following the Chiefs' narrow defeat.

The second incident involving Jackson Mahomes that didn't necessarily cover him in glory came when the Chiefs visited the Washington Football Team. The game also coincided with Washington's retiring of the late Sean Taylor's jersey #21. However, the younger Mahomes sibling caused a bit of a stir by recording a video of himself doing a dance on top of Taylor's number painted on the field. Some might view the act as quite distasteful, considering the nature of the day.

Just when Patrick Mahomes and the Chiefs are trending upwards, Jackson Mahomes strikes again, capturing the focus of the public on social media. Below are some shots of Jackson Mahomes' Snapchat story and tweets from his Twitter account around the same time:

A not so short story by @jacksonmahomes https://t.co/qm9lWaUHlQ
I don't need friends
They don't wanna see someone like me doing better than them
Never give focus on hate I receive
I could achieve more than they could dream
Everyone is just looking for honesty
Is it that hard to be honest

People have criticized him for riding on his brother's coattails:

@SGG_hq Better yet, is someone going to tell him that he’s not Patrick?
@SGG_hq Hopefully Patrick kicked him out the family

There was further negative buzz on Twitter surrounding his supposed antics during the Chiefs' visit to Arrowhead Stadium this past week. With no actual evidence or substantiated proof, fans still couldn't help themselves from jumping at the chance to bemoan him on Twitter:

Chiefs Twitter saying Jackson Mahomes kicked out of arrowhead on Sunday for skiing at the stadium?! 👀Does he just give zero fucks about Pat and the Chiefs?! 😳🤦🏻‍♀️
Jackson Mahomes got kicked out of Arrowhead on Sunday lol I guess there was snow on the forecast an nobody but him knew 🤣🤣🤣

Whether the rumors are true or not, one thing is becoming increasingly clear. Jackson Mahomes has become a constant source of negative publicity for his brother Patrick. It may only be a matter of time before the other "Mahomes effect" causes major concern for the Chiefs organization.
