Patrick Mahomes or Russell Wilson Week 17 Start 'Em, Sit 'Em: Fantasy football projections for QBs
Fantasy football is in its championship week in Week 17, so making the right lineup choices is key. On Christmas Day, there are two games on the schedule, and picking the right quarterback is crucial.
In Week 17, fantasy managers may have to decide between Patrick Mahomes and Russell Wilson. But who is the better option?
Is Patrick Mahomes a good fantasy option?
Kansas City Chiefs quarterback Patrick Mahomes is a great fantasy option in Week 17, even though it is a short week. The Chiefs are going on the road to play the Pittsburgh Steelers on Wednesday on Christmas Day.
Mahomes did have some ankle injuries going into last week, but he played well and appeared to be healthy. Mahomes was able to run the ball, which will help his fantasy stock in Week 17.
Is Russell Wilson a good fantasy pick?
Russell Wilson has been a surprise this season as the Steelers quarterback has played well. However, Wilson isn't a good fantasy pick, as there are much better quarterbacks to choose from, especially in a championship week. Wilson doesn't throw for a ton of yards or run for a lot of yards, which hurts his fantasy stock.
Wilson also plays against the Chiefs' defense, one of the best in the NFL, which also hurt his fantasy outlook.
Patrick Mahomes or Russell Wilson: Who Should I Start?
Sportskeeda's fantasy start/sit optimizer suggests that fantasy managers should start Mahomes over Wilson in Week 17.
The tool projects Mahomes will record 14.4 fantasy points in a full PPR league while Wilson will only record 9.6 points.
Mahomes is projected to throw for 190.5 yards, a touchdown and 15 rushing yards. Wilson, meanwhile, is expected to throw for just 124 yards and is likely to throw for a touchdown while only rushing for 8 yards.
Ultimately, Mahomes is the much better fantasy option in Week 17, but overall there are better quarterbacks for fantasy than both of them.
