Pittsburgh Steelers vs Buffalo Bills score, stats, and summary for preseason week 2
The Steelers and the Bills played a close affair during Week 2 of the preseason, and the game definitely looked like it wasn't a contest worth of a regular season win. In the end, the Bills won by 9-3.
This was Russell Wilson's first game with the Pittsburgh Steelers, as the veteran quarterback missed Week 1 of the preseason. For the Bills, Josh Allen sat once again, with Mitchell Trubisky being the starter for the team.
Pittsburgh Steelers vs Buffalo Bills: Stats
Russell Wilson finished the game with eight completions from ten attempts. He had 47 yards, while Justin Fields played for the majority of the game.
Mitchell Trubisky, who's back with the Bills, threw 13 passes for 86 yards during the game. He stood for the entire first half with Allen sidelined, which is common practice for preseason games when your quarterback is established.
Backup quarterback Justin Fields handed the remaining of the game for the Steelers and, while also throwing 14 passes, he ran for 42 yards in eight attempts. Fields is going to be the QB2 at the start of the season, as Mike Tomlin stated there was no quarterback battle.
Pittsburgh Steelers vs Buffalo Bills: Summary
The low scoring game had no points with the first quarter ended with a defensive battle. Both Steelers and Bills have solid defenses, but it's likely that, if Josh Allen had played, the first quarter wouldn't be scoreless.
As the first half ended, both teams scored a field goal apiece, but offenses were still struggling to score touchdowns. At the end of the half, the score 3-3 proved that it was not really an interesting game.
The Bills, however, scored six points in the second half to win the game but the 9-3 still shows that it wasn't the greatest affair in the history of the preseason.
Now, with Josh Allen returning, the Bills' offense will go hard in Week 1 once again. For the Steelers, it's time to decide how they want to compete in 2024, especially in a crowded division. With Wilson, the prognosis is tough to start.
