Ranking the 5 most important players on Buffalo Bills' 2024 roster feat. Josh Allen and James Cook

The Buffalo Bills suffered some major losses to their roster ahead of the 2024 NFL season on both sides of the football. This includes their top two wide receivers, Stefon Diggs and Gabe Davis, as well as their top three defensive backs, Jordan Poyer, Micah Hyde and Tre'Davious White.

With several key players gone, the Bills may find it more challenging to remain among the Super Bowl favorites for the upcoming year. If they want to continue being competitive, they will need some of their other stars to step up in a big way. Here are the five most important players on their roster that need to do so.

Most important Bills for the 2024 NFL season

#5. Dalton Kincaid

With their wide receivers decimated for the 2024 NFL season, the Bills may rely on Dalton Kincaid to be one of their biggest weapons in their passing game. He flashed his elite upside during his rookie season last year. So, if he can become more consistent and take another step forward, he has an opportunity to be a key piece of their offensive game plan.

#4. Keon Coleman

Rather than bringing in established top receivers to replace Diggs and Davis, the Bills used a second-round pick in the 2024 NFL draft to select Keon Coleman. He is expected to be an immediate starter, and with no real No. 1 option on their depth chart, his contributions could be a major factor in their offensive success this year.

#3. James Cook

James Cook broke out in a big way during his second year in Buffalo, more than doubling his yardage total from his rookie season. His impressive development will likely result in even more touches in year three, especially with their depleted pass-catchers. If he can take another step forward, it will relieve some of the pressure on Josh Allen.

#2. Taylor Rapp

The dynamic safety duo of Jordan Poyer and Micah Hyde has been the staple of the Bills' consistently strong defense in recent seasons. With both of them gone, they will be counting on Taylor Rapp to step up into a larger role. They can't afford for their passing defense to suffer major regression this season, which may be dependent upon Rapp's performance.

#1. Josh Allen

There is no question that Josh Allen is the important player in Buffalo for this upcoming season. He has been among the favorites to win the NFL MVP award in recent years, but with fewer weapons around him, he may need to elevate his game even further. He is arguably the best dual-threat in the NFL, but he may be under the most pressure of his career this year.
