Ranking the 5 most important players on Dallas Cowboys' 2024 roster feat. Dak Prescott and Micah Parsons

The Dallas Cowboys are all-in to win the Super Bowl this year if Jerry Jones is to be believed. However, their 2024 roster tells a different story. They have lost some key pieces in the offensive line. Their offensive backfield is unsettled. And they have multiple players reaching the end of their contracts.

All is not well with the Cowboys and if they are to make a championship tilt again, these are the players who will be crucial.

Most important players on 2024 Dallas Cowboys roster

#5 - DaRon Bland

DaRon Bland burst onto the scene last season and solidified himself as an important player on the Cowboys roster. He set the record for pick-sixes in a season with five. He will need to bring the same form this season.

For a team that has the propensity to turn the ball over in big games, leading to the opposition scoring, they need someone like him to take the pressure off the offense by scoring defensive points. His is a high-risk game but it brings its rewards.

#4 - Micah Parsons

Micah Parsons will be crucial to how well the Cowboys do this season. He is on the lookout for a premier contract in the near future. He is arguably one of the best in business.

Ever since he entered the league, he has been a model of consistency. He has had 13, 13.5, and 14 sacks in the last three seasons. But what is worrying for Dallas fans is that he only has one career sack in the postseason. The pass-rusher must work to prove his importance and if he can bring the heat in the playoffs, there might be no one more crucial to the Cowboys' chances than him.

#3 - Trevon Diggs

Injured last season and on the sidelines, this year marks Trevon Diggs' return. He can use the opportunity to remind observers just how good he can be. In 2021, he had 11 interceptions in 16 games. That production dropped in 2022 but he was a reliable defender with quarterbacks avoiding throwing toward him.

With Stephon Gilmore not slated to return, Trevon Diggs will have the responsibility to hold down his side instead of looking for big statistical numbers. As long as he can marshall the secondary, the Cowboys should be in with a shout.

#2 - CeeDee Lamb

CeeDee Lamb is looking for a new contract and he should get it. He is one of the best wide receivers in the league and he will be essential this year. With a weak offensive backfield, throwing might be more in vogue in Dallas this season and he might be the premier weapon for Dak Prescott.

He had 1,749 receiving yards last season and has never had a year with less than 900 yards. Excluding his rookie year, he has always reached 1,000 yards. He needs to shoulder a high degree of responsibility this season.

#1 - Dak Prescott

The most important player on a football team is generally the quarterback and Dak Prescott holds that mantle for the Cowboys. Dallas has struggled in the postseason the past few years and it has coincided with a downturn in their quarterback's performance. When he has been on song, he was good enough to retire Tom Brady.

He knows there are doubters inside and outside the organization. That is why his contract is taking so much time to get done, one could argue. He has to cut down on interceptions and carry his last year's form from the regular season into the playoffs. It is his performances, more than anyone, that will determine where the Cowboys finish by the end of the 2024 season.
