The Washington Redskins activated running back Derrius Guice off the injured reserve list on Thursday.

Guice has been sidelined since suffering a knee injury in the Redskins' opening game of the NFL season against the Philadelphia Eagles.

The 22-year-old was back on the practice field late last month and is now set to return after a two-month absence.

Guice may have to bide his time to dislodge Adrian Peterson in the Redskins side when they face New York Jets on November 17 after a bye this week.

The unfortunate Guice missed his entire rookie year in 2018 because of a torn ACL in his left knee suffered during pre-season.

Interim head coach Bill Callahan stated last week he was in no rush to decide what role his running backs will play against the Jets.

"When the game plan is put in and who we're playing, how we're going to attack that particular defense and how we're going to divide the repetitions and rotations and things of that nature," Callahan said.

"Way too early to decide on reps and counts they'll have for that particular game."
