Are Jets tampering with Aaron Rodgers? Mike Florio floats possibility amid intense trade rumors

Aaron Rodgers has a history of playing fast and loose with the rules (look at his Covid vaccine controversy). As reports have broken about the quarterback's chat with the New York Jets, one NFL analyst has refused to rule out that the conversations were on the up and up.

In an article published on Pro Football Talk, Mike Florio claimed that is was unlikely, but not impossible. Here's how he put it:

"The report skipped over a pretty important step — the Packers giving Rodgers permission to talk to other teams. Maybe they had and it just wasn’t reported or disclosed. It’s hard to imagine that information being kept secret, however, given that most of the football world spent last week in Indianapolis."

Will Rodgers remain with the Green Bay Packers in 2023?

Florio continued, outlining that the punishment for tampering could be severe:

"It’s possible he didn’t get permission, and that there was tampering. That would seem to be very unlikely, however, given the stiff punishment imposed on the Dolphins for tampering with Tom Brady and Sean Payton."
Per sources. Aaron Rodgers and the Jets had conversations today. While nothing is imminent Rodgers is open to the idea of going to NY

The future of Aaron Rodgers is only getting murkier. With retirement, a trade and staying in Green Bay all on that table, it's unclear as to what his future holds.

Retirement is not something that he can run from forever, as Tom Brady can tell you. Rodgers flirted with retirement last year, but instead signed a huge deal and looked set to retire with the Packers.

At this point, Rodgers has teased "the end" with the Packers every offseason for the last three years. But this time, the decision has taken longer than usual.

With multiple teams being linked to the quarterback, it feels like Aaron Rodgers is going to be on the move. But ever an unpredictable figure, you just can't rule out retirement or another season with Green Bay.

Rodgers will make his own decision in his time and the whole world will just have to wait until then.
