Deion Sanders to Raiders? NFL insider speculates potential move for $29,500,000 HC

Head coaching spots in the NFL are at a premium. Given the stakes, NFL franchises have to take a whole lot of factors into consideration before handing someone the keys to the kingdom. In 2024, a total of eight head coaches were hired, including Las Vegas Raiders' Antonio Pierce, who was named the full-time head coach after serving in an interim capacity after Josh McDaniels' exit.

However, given the Raiders are once again in the running for not just a top-10 pick, but a top-3 one, questions have been raised about Pierce's ability to keep the franchise afloat. At 2-10, they have one of the worst records in the league and will likely end up with a top-3 pick with a shot at picking Shedeur Sanders at the top of the draft.

While the Colorado Buffaloes quarterback is being seen as a consensus top-2 quarterback in this class, his father Deion Sanders has also strongly been linked with a move back to the big leagues.

This week, ESPN's Jeremy Fowler highlighted Tom Brady's Raiders as a "potential fit" for Deion Sanders, should he choose to call time on his college football coaching career.

Sanders is in the second year of a five-year, $29.5 million contract with the Colorado Buffaloes.

"If there's one fit, it's Vegas because of the culture there and the bright [Vegas] lights and Mark Davis' willingness to do something different," an AFC executive told ESPN. "Not sure whether it would work, but it would be exciting."

Cowboys legend trying to orchestrate Deion Sanders as Mike McCarthy's replacement

In an interview with Colin Cowherd two weeks ago, Dallas Cowboys legend Michael Irvin said he was certain Deion Sanders would take up the job if Jerry Jones offered it to him.

"I believe 100% [yes], and I can tell you, good sources have told me that," Irvin said on the show. "Great sources have told me that. That's all I can say like that without violating anything else."

In a later interview during the Jake Paul vs Mike Tyson fight, Irvin said that he would "be in Jerry's ear" about having Deion Sanders take over from Mike McCarthy if the Cowboys chose to fire their head coach this summer.
