Garrett Wilson trade rumors: Jets WR seeking exit from New York, per NFL insider

Garrett Wilson is adding more controversy to an already tumultuous 2024 NFL season for the New York Jets. The wide receiver was expected to take a leap in his game this campaign, but the team has been inconsistent from the get-go, limiting his options to thrive.

NFL insider Rich Cimini reported on his "Flight Deck" show that Wilson is expected to seek a trade in the offseason. A clip shared on X (formerly Twitter) on Wednesday showed the insider reporting on the potential trade request.

"I talked to people in Garrett Wilson's circle," Cimini said. "This is speculation on their part. They think he will ask for a trade after the season. Again, speculative by people who know him. We don't know that to be a fact."

After several seasons without success, the Jets could be in for an offseason full of changes. Now, the Garrett Wilson rumors can be added to the reports that Aaron Rodgers could leave the team once the season is done. Wilson's name has been mentioned in trade rumors in recent months, and the buzz appears to be getting louder by the week.

The 4-10 Jets are one of the biggest disappointments in the 2024 NFL season after entering the campaign with high expectations. They parted ways with coach Robert Saleh and general manager Joe Douglas because of poor results, and they may not be the only ones owner Woody Johnson shows the exit door to.

Garrett Wilson, according to people close to his situation, could force his exit.

Garrett Wilson cleared the air on relationship with Aaron Rodgers

Garrett Wilson and Aaron Rodgers locked horns during the season, including going at it on the sideline.

The quarterback said that he and Wilson had a great relationship and they just wanted to win and compete at the highest level. Wilson shared the sentiment, saying that their conversations helped them get better on the field.

“Whenever we’re out there having those conversations and getting the way we are, we’re getting better,” he told reporters, according to The Mirror. “We’re gaining an understanding for each other and the way we go about things, the way we think and interpret the game."

Zack Rosenblatt of The Athletic reported on Dec. 8 that Wilson had expressed last year that he would go if the situation didn't get better for the Jets. It seems like the time has arrived and the wide receiver might be on his way out.
