Have Patriots completed DeAndre Hopkins trade? Matthew Judon sends NFL Twitter into frenzy

DeAndre Hopkins is a hot commodity in the trade market this offseason and it seems his time with the Arizona Cardinals is over.

One team that has been linked to the five-time Pro Bowler is the New England Patriots. Hopkins possibly joining the Patriots would help bolster the offense and would be a great move.

Patriots defensive star Matthew Judon tweeted that Hopkins is on his way to New England. The news is yet to be confirmed, so it's all just speculation at this point. However, fans would love to see the former Clemson Tigers star in New England.

Breaking news @DeAndreHopkins to the patriots 🤩🤩

Last season, DeAndre Hopkins played in just nine games for the Cardinals, getting 64 receptions, 717 yards, and three touchdowns. The wideout missed six games last season due to a suspension by the league for failing the Performance Enhancing Drug (PED) policy.

The Patriots only had one receiver with more yards than Hopkins last season. Jakobi Meyers had 804 yards for New England. Only two other Patriots had more receptions than Hopkins, running back Rhamondre Stevenson (69) and Meyers (67).

As the Cardinals are in rebuilding mode with a new coaching staff, Hopkins' contract is one that is likely to be moved. The three-time All-Pro will be owed $19.4 million this upcoming season and $14.9 million in 2024. Are the Patriots willing to take on DeAndre Hopkins' salary?

What the Cardinals are looking for in a possible trade for DeAndre Hopkins?

According to Cardinals insider Mike Jurecki, the team is looking for a second-round pick for DeAndre Hopkins. Jurecki added that conversations are happening at the NFL combine.

The Patriots own the 46th pick overall in the 2023 draft along with seven other picks.

Other teams like the New York Giants and Kansas City are reportedly in the market for the 10-year veteran. However, it seems that New England might be the frontrunner for Hopkins. We'll see if the Patriots do make a move for Hopkins ahead of this year's draft.
