NFL Rumors: Anthony Richardson hints which team might pick him in draft

Florida Gators quarterback Anthony Richardson is one of the top-rated quarterback prospects in the draft. His hype has built him up to be a potential top-10, top-five pick in the 2023 NFL Draft.

A number of teams have met with the young prospect out of Florida, but one team has caught Richardson's eye.

The 21-year-old said that he felt an "instant rapport" with the Seattle Seahawks and head coach Pete Carroll. He also said his interviews with Seattle "felt different" and were reportedly the most impressive at the NFL Combine.

Anthony Richardson was on the Gators for three seasons. He didn't play much as a freshman and started just one game as a sophomore.

In 2022, he took over as the team's starter and went 6-6. He only completed 53.8 per cent of passes, 2,549 yards, 17 touchdownss, and nine interceptions. He also ran for 654 yards and nine touchdowns.

While Anthony Richardson didn't produce a top-10 pick in college, scouts and teams are impressed by his raw athleticism, upside, and potential.

Seahawks quarterback Geno Smith won Comeback Player of the Year as Seattle's quarterback last season.

Smith had the best season of his career last year with the team as he led them to a 9-8 regular-season record which was good enough to make the playoffs. He led the league in completion percentage (69.8) and also set career highs in passing yards (4,282) touchdowns (30) and rushing yards (366).

After an unprecedented season, the Seahawks seem committed to extending him or franchise-tagging him long term.

NFL insider Jordan Schultz spoke about how much the team loved Smith and how they'd like to get a long-term deal done with him.

Schultz Tweeted:

"The Seahawks staff loves Geno Smith. The players love him. He’s played himself into a massive contract. Seattle would certainly prefer to extend him, but I’ve also spoken w/other teams who feel he’s worth a significant multi-year deal. Either way, Geno is getting paid."

The Seahawks hold the number five overall pick in the 2023 NFL draft. They could possibly get Anthony Richardson, Bryce Young, or Will Levis.

Free agency will come first and we will see what the Seahawks decide to do with Smith.
