NFL Rumors: Packers eyeing former Eagles QB amid Aaron Rodgers departure

The Green Bay Packers will be without Aaron Rodgers by the end of the offseason unless a shocking twist happens. As such, the team will expect Jordan Love to take over as the starting quarterback in 2023. But that leaves a spot to fill behind the young quarterback. One NFL analyst has connected a former MVP front-runner to the team.

According to Sports Illustrated, Carson Wentz could be the right candidate to join the Green Bay Packers:

SI reported that a move to Green Bay would allow Wentz to rediscover himself after a miserable season in Washington.

The idea is to give Carson Wentz the "Mitchell Trubisky" treatment. Trubisky struggled for quite a while with the Chicago Bears, eventually forcing them to move on from him. He landed with the Buffalo Bills for a season behind Josh Allen. After backing up the young quarterback, he got one more shot at the starting role with the Pittsburgh Steelers.

He eventually lost his job to Kenny Pickett, but in the end, the move to accept a backup role ended up being a net positive in terms of extending his career and giving him another shot to start for a team.

Similarly, if Jordan Love faceplants in 2023, Wentz would get a chance to regain his former glory.

Will Wentz follow in Trubisky's footsteps after Rodgers' exit and find another destination, or could he step away from the game entirely, another idea that some analysts have floated?
