NFL Rumors: Patriots set to break the bank for Tee Higgins with $100,000,000+ in cap space
One of the best wide receivers expected to hit the free agent market this upcoming offseason is Cincinnati Bengals wide receiver Tee Higgins. That is of course, if the Bengals don't reach a deal with him, but as things stand, they face an uphill battle since they will have to take care of Ja'Marr Chase's contract first.
If Higgins hits free agency, he's expected to have a lot of interest and chances are that he will also be handed a monster contract. One of the teams rumored to be interested in him is the New England Patriots.
Chad Graff of the Atheltic recently wrote an article predicting that the Patriots will offer Higgins "the moon," in free agency and want to pair him with rookie quarterback Drake Maye.
Graff wrote:
“The Patriots are going to be all in on Tee Higgins. They’ve shown an interest in established receivers, and Higgins is the best free agent. I expect them to offer him the moon. The question is whether he says yes or no. If they offer Higgins more than anyone else and pair him with Maye, maybe that overcomes being in a rebuild in a cold-weather market.”
According to Over The Cap, the New England Patriots have the most cap space this upcoming offseason with more than $130 million available to make big moves.
List of top free agent wide receivers in 2025 headlined by Tee Higgins
This offseason, there are some solid quality wide receivers set to hit the open market as free agents. Of course, their current teams could reach new deals with them or franchise tag them before they became free agents.
Here are some of the top free agent wide receivers this upcoming offseason.
Stefon Diggs - In his lone season with the Houston Texans this season, Stefon Diggs had 47 receptions for 496 yards and three touchdowns in eight games played. He tore his ACL in Week 8 and has been sidelined since.
Tee Higgins - Tee Higgins has been a great WR 2 in Cincinnati for the last five seasons. He recorded back-to-back 1,000-plus-yard seasons in 2021 and 2022 and could be a team's No. 1 WR.
Chris Godwin - Like Stefon Diggs, Chris Godwin had his season cut short due to injury. In seven games played this season, Godwin had 50 catches for 576 yards and five touchdowns.
Amari Cooper - Amari Cooper was traded from the Cleveland Browns to the Buffalo Bills right before the trade deadline In 11 games played this season, he has 40 receptions for 481 yards and three receiving touchdowns. If Buffalo allows him to become a free agent, he should have interest from some teams.
