NFL Rumors: Shane Steichen likely to be first in a long list of Eagles departures
The Philadelphia Eagles lost Super Bowl LVII over the weekend and just days later, they lost in a big way once again. Shane Steichen is now a member of the Indianapolis Colts. However, the bleeding may have only just begun. According to Eagles Wire, up to 18 players could be skipping town this offseason.
Of course, the team has all the power to stop most of them. That said, there are some names on the list that could affect the win column next season.
Will Jalen Hurts reach the Super Bowl in 2023?
Here's the complete list of every player that is pending an exit for one reason or another this offseason: Fletcher Cox, Javon Hargrave, James Bradberry, Isaac Seumalo, Andre Dillard, Kyzir White, T.J. Edwards, Boston Scott, Zach Pascal, Miles Sanders, Brett Toth, Tyree Jackson, Gardner Minshew, Marcus Epps, Robert Quinn, Linval Joseph, Ndamukong Suh and C.J. Gardner-Johnson.
Which losses could hurt the Eagles the most?
Arguably the biggest names on the list are pass-rushers Fletcher Cox and Ndamukong Suh, running back Miles Sanders and backup quarterback Gardner Minshew. Fletcher Cox has been a leading star of the organization going back to 2012.
Ndamukong Suh is far from his prime, but for some odd reason, Super Bowl appearances tend to follow him around. In recent years, he was part of the Los Angales Rams' 2018 appearance, Tom Brady's 2020 win in Tampa Bay, and now the Eagles' appearance in 2022.
Backup quarterback Gardner Minshew has his own cult fanbase and showed plenty of flash this season playing in relief of Jalen Hurts. Of course, the veteran is far from creating a quarterback controversy, but he has also managed to avoid holding the offense back in a crippling way like many backup quarterbacks in the league.
As Eagles fans know, departures don't necessarily equal missing relevancy. Super Bowl LVII was the team's second appearance with an all-new staff and roster at most of the biggest spots. Doug Pederson was replaced by Nick Sirianni. Quarterbacks Carson Wentz and Nick Foles were replaced by Jalen Hurts and Gardner Minshew. Will the team manage to pivot once again?
