San Francisco 49ers vs Green Bay Packers: Box score, player stats and summary feat. Christian McCaffrey, Josh Jacobs
The 49ers and the Packers have played many great games in their history, with some of the most exciting ones coming in the playoffs. Just last year, Green Bay's season ended in the Divisional Round as San Francisco made it past them and ultimately to the Super Bowl.
Now, in Week 12 of the 2024 season, the Packers finally had a chance for revenge. They were at home and the 49ers were facing a lot of injuries, not least to starting quarterback Brock Purdy. Other costly misses were Nick Bosa and Trent Williams.
Beyond their historic rivalry, both teams are looking at the Wild Card route for the postseason as they are currently not top of their divisions. Since they are both in the NFC, a win here for either team could deal a blow to their opponent's playoff chances. The Packers came into this matchup with a 7-3 record, while the 49ers trailed them with their win-loss column reading even at 5-5. Here is how the game unfolded.

49ers vs. Packers game summary
The 49ers and the Packers faced off each other with an anticipation that this could be a close and thrilling game. In the end, it was not even close.
The pattern was established from the first drive as Josh Jacobs got the run game going and Jordan Love made critical throws when needed. It ended with a touchdown pass to Tucker Kraft to make the score 7-0. After a three-and-out by the visiting team, Green Bay scored a field goal to make the score 10-0 to end the first quarter.
Another three-and-out by the 49ers allowed the Packers to go on yet another touchdown drive. Josh Jacobs got into the endzone and it was richly deserved after his performance until then and that made it 17-0 for the home team. San Francisco rekindled some hope going into halftime after George Kittle set up a first-and-goal with a reception before following it up with a catch in the endzone.
Had Christian Watson not dropped a dime from Jordan Love in the next possession, it would have been worse for the 49ers but the Packers went into the break leading 17-7.
The second half began slower than the first with none of the teams getting going. After the 49ers turned it over on downs, the Packers followed it up with a punt. But then Deebo Samuel let a pass go through his hands and Xavier McKinney intercepted Brandon Allen to set up the home team nicely.
Jordan Love took full advantage of that and led a short drive that culminated with Josh Jacobs getting his second touchdown of the day to establish a 24-7 lead. The visiting team did give themselves some hope with the next drive, which yielded a field goal to make the score 24-10 at the end of the third quarter.
After three straight punts, disaster struck for the 49ers when Brandon Allen was strip-sacked and the resulting fumble was picked up by the Packers. What came next was familiar as another rushing touchdown by Josh Jacobs, who was battling cramps earlier in the game, made the score 31-10.
Any hope that San Francisco had of making a comeback was extinguished in the next possession when Christian McCaffrey picked up some receiving yards only to fumble the ball and return it to Green Bay. Jordan Love made sure that their opposition was left to rue their turnover with a touchdown pass to Malik Heath.
That made the score 38-10 for the home team and that is how the game ended after a couple of possessions by each team turned over on downs.
