"Scary situation" When NFL legend Joe Montana rescued his grandchild, foiling kidnapping attempt

Joe Montana is an NFL legend who wowed people on the field during his Hall of Fame career. While on the "Pat McAfee Show," showhost McAfee referred to an incident that highlighted Montana's prowess and reflexes:

"Somebody was trying to kidnap his granddaughter and he took one of the Super Bowl-winning footballs," he said. "Threw the football, hit the kidnapping suspect in the beak, then sat down on the rail and caught the baby.
"He's Joe Montana. We don't know if those were the exact details but something along those lines."

McAfee made it clear that he didn't know the exact story, which took place in 2020. As per reports, Montana and his wife faced a woman who entered and grabbed their granddaughter from the playpen.

The LA County Sheriff's Department stated that the woman entered their Malibu house and picked up their sleeping grandchild. A scuffle ensued, and Montana and his wife managed to keep the child safe.

"A tussle ensued and Mrs. Montana was able to safely pry the child out of the suspect's arms," the sheriff's department revealed.

Their granddaughter was only nine months old when the incident took place.

Did they catch the woman who tried to kidnap Joe Montana's grandchild?

Later reports revealed that the suspect was called Sodsai Dalzell. She fled the scene immediately after but was caught. She was charged with kidnapping and burglary. Furthermore, Dalzell was held at the Century Regional Detention Facility in Lynwood with bail of $150,000.

That being said, all charges against Dalzell were dropped after a few months. There wasn't much reason provided for the decision.

For those who aren't aware, Montana played 15 seasons with the NFL. Thirteen of those were spent with the San Francisco 49ers, who won four Super Bowls while he was their starting QB.

Joe Montana retired after the 1994 season and was inducted into the Pro Football Hall of Fame in 2000. His wife, Jennifer, is a former Sports Illustrated swimsuit model and a philanthropist.
