“Zach Wilson says cougar hunting is easier” – Shannon Sharpe Twitter burn puts Jets QB on blast after horror TNF loss vs Jaguars
Zach Wilson and the New York Jets suffered their fourth straight loss as they lost 3-19 to the Jacksonville Jaguars. This was another devastating loss for the Jets, whose playoff ambitions have fallen apart.
Wilson once again played poorly and was benched by the Jets in the second half of the game. Chris Streveler came in to replace him, but the Jets weren't able to change the outcome of the result.
In light of another terrible performance from Wilson, many trolled the New York Jets quarterback. NFL Hall of Famer Shannon Sharpe also chimed in to take a subtle dig at Wilson. Here's what Sharpe tweeted about Zach Wilson after his awful performance against the Jacksonville Jaguars:
"Zach Wilson says cougar hunting is easier than playing qb in the NFL. Son, you’ve gotta do better than this"
Wilson has often been trolled for the cougar narrative since the news about him having a relationship with his mother's friend came out. Unfortunately, the former BYU quarterback hasn't been able to showcase his skills on the field this season.
It is highly probable that the loss to the Jacksonville Jaguars was his last-ever start for the Jets, as the franchise will look to use the other quarterbacks on their roster. Due to their four-game losing streak, New York will head into their next game against the Seattle Seahawks as the underdogs.
Is the Zach Wilson era over in New York?
As stated earlier, the game against the Jaguars might have been the last start for Wilson in New York. The team clearly plays better with other quarterbacks than with Wilson. As a result, the Jets will look to play with Joe Flacco or Chris Streveler if Mike White isn't healthy.
Jets head coach Robert Saleh has stated that this isn't the end of Wilson in New York, but it's really hard to see him continuing. Against the Jaguars, Wilson finished the game by completing 9/18 throws for 92 yards and an interception. He had a passer rating of 41.9.
New York looked primed to make the playoffs, but the injury to Mike White has derailed their chances of making it to the postseason. Wilson had the opportunity to redeem himself, but he failed. It will be interesting to see what's next for both Zach Wilson and the New York Jets.
