Should I trade Kareem Hunt? Fantasy value, trade advice and Week 11 outlook for Chiefs RB
Kareem Hunt has been having an excellent 2024 fantasy football season since taking over as the Kansas City Chiefs' starting running back. He has played in at least 58% of the offensive snaps in each of his past five games and finished as the weekly RB13 or better in four of them.
His run as one of the best overall fantasy football running backs may soon be coming to an end with Isiah Pacheco expected to make his return in the coming weeks. This makes Hunt an ideal sell-high candidate in fantasy trades ahead of Week 11.
Fantasy value and trade advice for Kareem Hunt
Managers would be wise to cash in on Kareem Hunt's fantasy value now before it likely decreases upon Isiah Pacheco's coming return. Selling high on players and flipping them for other options with more upside and a brighter outlook for the remainder of the season has always been a beneficial strategy in fantasy football.
Sportskeeda's Fantasy Football Trade Analyzer suggests sending away Hunt in a two-for-one deal to acquire a package that includes Rico Dowdle and Jakobi Meyers. Neither of them have been as impressive as Hunt at this point in the 2024 season, but their values could be increasing as his workload is expected to take a major hit in the coming weeks.
Meyers has finished as the WR17 and WR22 in his first two games since Davante Adams was traded away. Dowdle has quietly finished among the top 10 weekly running backs twice in his past four games and set season-highs in snap percentage in both of them. They offer more combined upside than Hunt for the stretch run of the season with the fantasy playoffs quickly approaching.
Kareem Hunt fantasy outlook for rest of 2024 season
Kareem Hunt was brought in by the Kansas City Chiefs to help replace Isiah Pacheco when he was injured. The veteran quickly surpassed Carson Steele and Samaje Perine on the depth chart and immediately became a stud in fantasy football. He is averaging nearly 17 fantasy points per game in PPR scoring in his five starts this year.
It's unclear how the Chiefs will divide the backfield workload when Pacheco returns, but it will likely decrease Hunt's fantasy value by a significant margin. He was recently designated to return ahead of Week 11, so he is expected to get back into the lineup within their next couple of games.
