“Take it easy” – When Travis Kelce labelled Andy Reid a ‘rollercoaster tycoon’
Not only is Travis Kelce one of the greatest tight ends of all time, but he's also one of the funniest people there is in the NFL. When you combine his personality with one of the best TV hosts there is in Jimmy Fallon, you're always going to get some good content.
During the 2020 season, when much of the league's creativity was limited because of the COVID-19 pandemic, Jimmy Fallon created the 'Drop It In' game, where he asked NFL players to drop some random phrases during their interviews. Some of the players involved were Rob Gronkowski, D.K. Metcalf, Jalen Ramsey and Kelce himself.
The difference is that, while the other players just really used random context to drop the phrases out of nowhere, Kelce played it perfectly, using it as a joke with head coach Andy Reid.
"You know, there's not a week that goes by where coach Reid isn't gonna get on you, man. That's his job, you know. Sometimes, you just gotta be like, 'Take it easy, Rollercoaster Tycoon', you know what I mean?"
Coach Reid must have been called many names during his 25-year head coach career, but 'Rollercoaster Tycoon'? If that wasn't new to you, I would be very surprised.
Kelce, Reid still alive in the Super Bowl hunt
Both tight end and coach were already considered great in 2020 and they remain at this level even today. As the Kansas City Chiefs prepare to play in the AFC Championship Game on Sunday against the Cincinnati Bengals, they have to avoid repeating the disaster that happened last season.
Against the same opponent, also playing at home in the conference championship, the Chiefs jumped to an early 21-3 lead. But they failed to close out the game and the Bengals came back to win 27-24 in overtime and advance to the Super Bowl, much because of a poor display from Kansas City in the second half.
Kelce and Reid have been there before. This is their fifth straight year in the conference championship — but they only have one Super Bowl win to show. The Bengals have won their previous three matchups against the Chiefs, so they must be at their very best at Arrowhead Stadium.
