Terrell Edmunds is leaving the Pittsburgh Steelers. He wished the franchise well and thanked them for being home to him for a while in his NFL career. He was a free agent this offseason and many fans expected the Steelers to bring him back, but he seems to be headed elsewhere.

This means that there's still a top safety option on the market after both Vonn Bell and Jessie Bates signed very early in free agency. Teams will likely be more interested now that they know he's not coming back to Pittsburgh. Which teams might he land with?

3) New England Patriots

The New England Patriots are at their best when they have a strong defense, especially in the post-Tom Brady era. Bill Belichick is a defensive mastermind, so giving him top defensive players makes a lot of sense. Plus, knowing the psuedo-rivalry between the Steelers and Patriots, Belichick would throw the Steelers fanbase into a frenzy with this signing. The safety duo of Adrian Phillips and Kyle Dugger will improve with Terrell Edmunds.

The Patriots narrowly missed the postseason last year so they need to improve on both sides of the ball. Edmunds is a great way to do just that.

2) Minnesota Vikings

Harrison Smith is still a solid safety, but he's getting older all the time. Pairing him with Edmunds would be great and Edmunds could be a contingency plan for the future without Smith. He could also supplant Camryn Bynum and make the back end of the Minnesota Vikings defense a lot more fearsome.

They made the playoffs last season before getting bounced early, so every good player they can add in free agency will go a long way.

1) Cincinnati Bengals

Signing with the Steelers' bitter rival might be a step too far for Terrell Edmunds, but there's no denying that the Cincinnati Bengals need Edmunds more than any other team. Both Vonn Bell and Jessie Bates left via free agency, leaving the secondary in shambles. Edmunds would at least give them a proven starter to fill that void.

They might have to offer more to get him to forget his Steelers roots, but the Bengals need safety help so badly that they may have no other choice.
