Terry McLaurin or Jakobi Meyers or Jayden Reed Week 16 Start 'Em, Sit 'Em: Fantasy football projections for WRs

Wide receiver is easily statistically the most dominant offensive position in the NFL, but not all players there belong in the same category. Terry McLaurin, Jakobi Meyers and Jayden Reed prove that.

None of them are quite enough to be close to elite, like Justin Jefferson and Ja'Marr Chase. But there's at least one fantasy manager out there who thinks of starting any of them. So who gets the nod?

History-making. That's Terry McLaurin, to sum it up nicely. He's looking to enter rarefied territory - five straight 1000-yard seasons, something not even Washington Commanders legends Art Monk and Charley Taylor accomplished in their careers.

To achieve that, the 229.1-point WR14 will have to overcome the Philadelphia Eagles' top-ranked anti-WR defense that boasts monstrously dangerous weapons like Darius Slay, Quinyon Mitchell and Reed Blankenship.

Poor Jakobi Meyers. In 2023, he and Davante Adams were projected to be the Las Vegas Raiders' one-two punch at WR. But fast forward to 2024, and eveything has changed for the worse.

Jimmy Garoppolo flopped and was benched for fourth-round then-rookie Aidan O'Connell. Gardner Minshew, coming off a surprise Pro Bowl appearance as Anthony Richardson's replacement at the Indianapolis Colts, was benched for the now-sophomore. In the middle of this season, Adams was traded to the New York Jets to reunite with fellow ex-Packer Aaron Rodgers.

Tight end Brock Bowers could also surpass him as the Raiders' premier receiver of the future. Still, Meyers isn't doing badly himself - he has 802 yards and is coming off a four-game double-digit fantasy streak, one of a few bright points for a terrible team.

He could have another big game against the Jacksonville Jaguars, who are one of three worst teams when it comes to containing wideouts, averaging 38.5 points allowed.

Jayden Red needs no introduction. He's one of Jordan Love's many deep-threat targets in the Green Bay Packers' multi-faceted offensive arsenal.

Last time out, he rebounded very well from putting up the dreaded zero, catching all but one of his six targets for 34 yards and scoring 11.1 points.

Moreover, he should continue that improvement against the New Orleans Saints and their bottom-five anti-WR defense.

Whom should I start between Terry McLaurin, Jakobi Meyers, and Jayden Reed?

The Sportskeeda Start/Sit tool leaves no doubt: it's Terry McLaurin winning. He's just too monstrously prolific not to pick, unless one wants to also have a slot back/receiver, in which case Reed could also be added, given his superior rushing potential.

As for Meyers, even though he sits between those two, he's the sitting candidate here. His team is no longer in contention, so managers are better off avoiding him.
