"The mind and body must work together": When Tom Brady spoke about his mental fitness as a Super Bowl champion

Tom Brady has seven Super Bowl titles, and his vast 23-season career illustrates his greatness. Pundits regard Brady's dedication and fitness as the driving forces behind his success, and Brady credits his TB12 program for his overall health. However, these debates frequently disregard Brady's mental fitness.

In an exclusive interview published in Maria Shriver’s Sunday Paper in February 2017, Brady revealed the importance of mental fitness.

“I feel the mind and body must work together. I believe just as strongly in the importance of mental fitness as I do about physical fitness. For me, mental fitness comes from a combination of activities and choices,” Brady said.

Brady is arguably the best person to speak on the matter, as he has triumphed seven times out of ten Super Bowl appearances. How does Brady do that?

“It’s easy to get caught up in the excitement of a big game or event — after these many years, I’ve learned to ignore the noise! For me, having a regular routine is very helpful.” Brady answered.

The 47-year-old has often credited his TB12 method for his success, and fans can gain access to it through his book, TB12 Method.

“I perform cognitive exercises (which are available to anyone at TB12.BrainHQ.com) that help me stay sharp and make better split-second decisions on the field. And I prioritize getting enough rest to allow my body to recover. And I strive to keep a positive mental attitude at all times," he added.

The book also discusses an unconventional treatment Brady followed to stay fit for a long time.

Tom Brady has an unconventional method of staying physically fit

Tom Brady met Alex Guerrero during his stint with the Patriots, who was working as the massage therapist for the team. Guererro introduced Brady to pliability therapy, which the former quarterback found relaxing.

“I see pliability as lengthening and softening of muscles to get back into balance. Over the years, so many muscle contractions, or through all the workouts that we do, we shorten our muscles. So if you can get them to lengthen, then when you contract, they can fully contract and relax,” Brady said in Tom vs Time documentary.

Brady was so impressed by the result that he involved Guerrero as a partner in his TB12 program business in 2017. These methods are available to fans and athletes through the book or program.
