Tom Brady could be the answer Raiders were looking for all along in pursuit of return to glory days
The Las Vegas Raiders may be in the market soon for a quarterback, and Tom Brady might be available too. The Raiders decided to bench Derek Carr, their starting quarterback for the past nine seasons, for the final two matches of the current season.
While nothing is final yet, it does look as if they could choose to move on from Carr and get some other quarterback in place. They have an elite offense with the likes of Davante Adams in place and could decide they want to win now instead of waiting for the future.
There is no guarantee of winning in the NFL, but Tom Brady is as close to a cheat code as you can get. The GOAT has won a record seven Super Bowls, and he has done so with two different teams now. So, no one would be willing to bet against him doing it with yet another team.
Tom Brady might make the playoffs this season with the Tampa Bay Buccaneers, but it is clear that he is not at ease with that system anymore. The Buccaneers have a losing 7-8 record and are only in conversation for the postseason because the NFC South teams around them are equally bad. There is every indication that Brady might decide this is his last season in Florida.
If Tom Brady chooses to move, Las Vegas could become his premier option. Based on previous reports, when he decided to move from New England, one of his reasons was that he wanted to stay away from the cold weather. He wanted to play for his boyhood team, the San Francisco 49ers, but did not get the chance and might not get it again, as they seem well stocked with Brock Purdy and Trey Lance for the foreseeable future.
Furthermore, Josh McDaniels is the head coach for the Las Vegas Raiders. He was the offensive coordinator and quarterback coach for the New England Patriots and guided Tom Brady to three Super Bowl wins. There are many reasons why it seems to be falling in place to bring the GOAT to Sin City.
Tom Brady had the possibility to join the Raiders after leaving the Patriots
When the Tampa Bay Buccaneers had not yet emerged as the final destination for Tom Brady after he left the New England Patriots, the Las Vegas Raiders were still in the picture. One person who desperately tried to recruit the quarterback to come to Las Vegas was UFC President Dana White.
Not only did he believe in Brady's potential on the field, but he was also excited by the marketing implications of it. He could have the GOAT strutting his stuff on the grandest stage of all; Las Vegas, after all, is the world's entertainment capital.
From that perspective, a trade for the Buccaneers' quarterback would make quite a lot of sense. It would put Vegas as a sporting epicenter with the GOAT around. For Tom Brady as well, he would have the spotlight like few other cities can provide. This will allow him to focus on promoting ventures like TB12 after retirement, given the glare that comes from being in Vegas.
The Raiders would also benefit in every way from this arrangement. The Buccaneers, as bad as they have been, are fourth in the league in terms of passing yards. They have been let down because they are at the bottom of the league in running yards.
In terms of rushing yards, the Raiders are in the middle of the pack, and adding Tom Brady's high-powered passing game can increase their offensive output instantly. Off the field, having the dual advantage of Brady's brand name and Vegas' limelight can only be beneficial.
If they can make it work, it might be a win-win proposition for both parties.
