Tom Brady opens up on what led to a meek 28-point loss vs the 49ers - "Everyone's got to play better"
Tom Brady and the Tampa Bay Buccaneers suffered a devastating 28-point loss to the San Francisco 49ers. The Bucs' offense was able to score only 7 points while Brock Purdy had an exceptional game in his first ever NFL start.
Brady threw two interceptions as well, and the 49ers' defense didn't allow the Bucs to get back into the game. With this loss, the Buccaneers are now 6-7 and could potentially face competition from other NFC South teams for the division title.
The Tampa Bay Buccaneers looked pretty horrific against the 49ers and there are some glaring holes in the team. Speaking after the game, Tom Brady said this:
"That's a good football team. You know, they're good. They played well today. Brock played really well. They made a bunch of plays, offensively and defensively and special teams. And we didn't make many..."
He continued:
"Everyone's got to play better. But you know, we're just not playing. We just have not played consistently well, very often."
Brady added:
"But some games we played well for five minutes and don't play well for 55 minutes. You know, some games we played pretty well, for half, you know, we just have not played consistently well for a game.
Tom Brady hasn't played like his usual self this season, and a lot of that has been due to a number of injuries to key players on the team.
Their O-line is compromised due to injuries, and for a quarterback like Brady who plays from the pocket, it's difficult to deal with such problems. Hopefully, the Buccaneers will be able to find their feet soon.
Tom Brady and the Buccaneers will face the Bengals next week
The road ahead for the Buccaneers isn't going to get any easier as they face the Cincinnati Bengals next week. Joe Burrow is playing MVP-caliber football, and it will be hard for Tom Brady and the Bucs to get a result out of that game.
The Buccaneers could miss the playoffs this season as other teams in their division are slowly catching up to them. The Carolina Panthers won this week, and they can certainly cause some concerns for the Bucs when it comes to winning the division.
