Top 10 highest paid WRs after Tyreek Hill’s $106,500,000 restructured contract
Dolphins wide receiver Tyreek Hill was next in line to get a contract extension as soon as Justin Jefferson signed a new contract with the Vikings and it has now happened. The $35 million that the Minnesota wideout received per year over four years is the most ever for the position and resets the market. Given how good the Dolphins star has been in the last couple of seasons, it was more a case of when, not if, his contract would be restructured.
The Dolphins moved first to give Tua Tagovailoa a new contract in line with what other quarterbacks were getting and they got that done. That allowed them to move to Tyreek Hill next and they have now signed him to a restructured contract, as reported by Adam Schefter, that pays $90 million in the next three years. While that is short of Jefferson's annual average, it gives him $65 million in guaranteed money.
Over the course of four years, his guaranteed earnings will be $106.5 million, which is the most for a wide receiver in NFL history. This benchmark, along with the fact that no new years were added to the deal to move the money around, shows how confident Miami remains in the continued production of Tyreek Hill.
He is now firmly in the highest-paid receivers in the league and the full list of the top 10 players in that position follows.
Tyreek Hill part of the top 10 highest paid wide receiver club
#10 - Nico Collins, Houston Texans, $24.25 million AAV
Nico Collins rounds off the top 10 on our list. After having a breakout season with rookie quarterback C.J. Stroud, he signed a deal for three years worth $72.75 million. Making him the highest wide receiver on the team when they also signed Stefon Diggs shows how much faith they have in him as a player.
#9 - DeVonta Smith, Philadelphia Eagles, $25 million AAV
DeVonta Smith was one of the first players to get the ball rolling with a new contract extension in the offseason and he might be regretting not holding out a bit longer as the entire market shifted. He has a $75 million deal for three years, but that does not make him the highest-paid player available for Jalen Hurts to target.
#8 - Cooper Kupp, Los Angeles Rams, $26.7 million AAV
Cooper Kupp is the last Super Bowl MVP who was not a quarterback named Patrick Mahomes. He was sensational two seasons ago when the Los Angeles Rams won the World Championship and his current contract was a reward for that. He signed an $80.1 million contract worth three years in 2022 and would need to rediscover such form again if he wants to sign a new deal near the top of the wide receiver market in the future.
#7 - D.J. Moore, Chicago Bears, $27.5 million AAV
The Bears might have added Keenan Allen and Rome Odunze to help rookie quarterback Caleb Williams, but D.J. Moore remains the top player in that position in Chicago. He signed a $110 million contract for four years this offseason and looks set to stay there for some time to come.
#6 - Davante Adams, Las Vegas Raiders, $28 million AAV
Davante Adams set the market for wide receivers when he moved to the Las Vegas Raiders from the Green Bay Packers in 2022. His $140 million contract over five years was an early indication of the rising market for the position, from which other players are benefiting today.
#5 - Jaylen Waddle, Miami Dolphins, $28.25 million AAV
The Miami Dolphins are going all-in on their offense, as they gave new contracts to both Tua Tagovailoa and Tyreek Hill in recent days. But in all that hoopla, it is easy to forget they have another offensive star in Jaylen Waddle. They signed him earlier in the offseason to a three-year, $84.75 million contract.
#4 - Tyreek Hill, Miami Dolphins, $30 million AAV
The Dolphins offense looks set to be steady for years to come, with both wide receivers and quarterbacks now under new contracts in 2024. For Tyreek Hill, it was more of a restructuring, as the $90 million over three years was distributed equitably by giving him $65 million in guaranteed money.
Earlier, he was set to earn $30 million per year on average still, but it was achieved with an inflated value of $45 million for the 2026 season, which was just for creative purposes.
Tyreek Hill now gets his worth in guaranteed money. That is commensurate with his new ranking as the best player in the league.
#3 - Amon-Ra St. Brown, Detroit Lions, $30.002 million AAV
Just shading Tyreek Hill is Amon-Ra St. Brown. He was crucial in the Detroit Lions reaching the NFC Championship last season and he signed a four-year, $120.01 million extension this 2024 offseason.
#2 - A.J. Brown, Philadelphia Eagles, $32 million AAV
For a short while, A.J. Brown was the highest-paid wide receiver in the league as he signed a new contract with the Eagles in 2024. His 3-year, $96 million contract opened the doors to Justin Jefferson's demands being agreed in Minnesota.
#1 - Justin Jefferson, Minnesota Vikings, $35 million AAV
If Tyreek Hill got his contract restructured in quick order, it was because of how high Justin Jefferson set the market. His four-year $140 million deal makes him the highest-paid wide receiver in the league right now and in NFL history.
