Waiver Wire Week 16 Running Backs to Target feat. Kendre Miller and Jerome Ford
Winning the waiver wire is one of the most important factors in finding consistent success in fantasy football. It will be crucial in Week 16 of the 2024 season as the fantasy playoffs are underway and the trade deadline has passed. For managers looking to improve their running backs for the final weeks of the year, here are some of the best targets.
Fantasy Football Week 16 Waiver Wire RBs
#1 - Kendre Miller
Kendre Miller may be receiving a massive opportunity for the New Orleans Saints to finish out the 2024 season. Alvin Kamara suffered a groin injury in their most recent game last week and may have to miss some time because of it. This would open the door for Miller to potentially serve as their featured back.
Kamara has one of the largest workloads in the NFL, so if Miller takes over his role, he will immediately become a valuable fantasy football running back for the final stretch of the season. This makes him one of the best overall waiver wire targets in Week 16 with more upside than just about any other option.
#2 - Tyjae Spears
Tyjae Spears spent most of the 2024 fantasy football season as the RB2 behind Tony Pollard for the Tennessee Titans. Despite his current role, he broke for a massive performance last week, including playing in a season-high 56% of the offensive snaps and turning a season-best RB5 weekly finish.
The Titans are completely out of the race for the NFL playoffs this year, so they may choose to feature some of their younger players down the stretch. This could explain why Spears received an increased workload last week, and it could be an indication that his volume will improve for the final few games. This makes him a solid speculative addition off the Week 16 waiver wire.
#3 - Jerome Ford
Jerome Ford opened the 2024 fantasy football season as the starting running back for the Cleveland Browns. When Nick Chubb returned from his injury, the two of them shared the backfield workload. Ford is in line to serve as their featured back once again with Chubb suffering a season-ending foot injury last week.
Ford is also trending in the right direction, playing in more than 55% of the snaps in four of his previous five games and recording a season-best RB8 finish last week. With his workload likely to increase without Chubb in the lineup, Ford is an excellent waiver wire target this week.
