Run it back with Rob Gronkowski: Tom Brady must call star TE back to arrest Bucs’ slide, Warren Moon claims
The Tampa Bay Buccaneers offense, led by Tom Brady, has struggled massively so far this season. This is largely due to the unavailability of multiple key personnel who were part of the unit.
Both Rob Gronkowski and Antonio Brown are no longer playing for the Buccaneers, and that has been the biggest issue. Brady and Gronkowski are arguably the best duo in NFL history, and not having him this season has certainly hindered the Buccaneers' offense.
NFL Hall of Famer Warren Moon also believes that Rob Gronkowski is the missing piece. Here's what Moon said about Brady and Gronkowski via TMZ:
"He's been a security blanket for [Brady] for so long. Whenever there's a key play that needs to be made, especially down in the redzone or whatever -- and they had a tough time scoring in the redzone last week -- that's the guy he would usually go to, Rob Gronkowski."
Although Rob Gronkowksi has stated multiple times that he is not considering a return to the NFL, the rumors have not died down. He could possibly return to play for the Buccaneers come playoff time.
The team should be much healthier by then and if they look like contenders, we can't rule out a return for Gronkowski. Rob Gronkowski's agent has also hinted that the legendary tight end could return to suit up for the Buccaneers later this season.
Tom Brady would be massively improved by the return of Rob Gronkowski
As stated earlier, Tom Brady doesn't have Rob Gronkowski and Antonio Brown and the pressure has rested significantly on Mike Evans this season. Evans has played well for the Buccaneers so far, but he can't do everything. Gronkowski's return would be massive for Tampa Bay, and they would once again become a powerhouse.
The injuries to the O-line of the Buccaneers have resulted in difficult playing conditions for Tom Brady this season, and that has been visible. So far this campaign, Brady has thrown for 1,942 yards but has only thrown eight touchdown passes and has an interception.
Julio Jones was signed to fill the void left by Antonio Brown, but due to injuries we haven't seen anything significant from him. Tight end Cameron Brate also got hurt, causing more problems.
Whether or not Rob Gronkowski returns to play alongside Brady remains to be seen, but the team sorely needs him back.
