In Week 17 as the Buffalo Bills faced the Cincinnati Bengals, Hamlin collapsed onto the field following a play. Medical staff attended to him at Paycor Stadium for, at least, 10 minutes, including giving him CPR and oxygen. An ambulance entered the field as Hamlin laid on a stretcher and transported him to the nearby University of Cincinnati Medical Facility.

He was initially listed in critical condition but is showing signs of progress, something fans, Bills teammates, and the world were glad to hear.

β€œWhen you put real love out into the world it comes back to you 3x’s as much. The Love has been overwhelming, but I’m thankful for every single person that prayed for me and reached out. If you know me you know this only gone make me stronger. β€œOn a long road keep praying for me!”

He's breathing on his own and talking to his family, doctors and teammates. Hamlin even spoke to the team before their game against the Patriots. On the Friday before the game during a team meeting, Hamlin spoke to the team via FaceTime for the first time.
