“We’re talking about an offense that can go punch for punch with Kansas City/Buffalo” - Analyst thinks Jaguars offense can be one of the best in 2023

Can the Jacksonville Jaguars become one of the best offenses of 2023?

After starting the season 4-8, the Jaguars rallied towards the end of the season and won their final five games, finishing the season 9-8. Part of their success was due to quarterback Trevor Lawrence playing better this season as well as the emergence of rookie running back, Travis Etienne.

The team will have the addition of Calvin Ridley next season, as they acquired him via trade with the Atlanta Falcons last season right before the trade deadline.

ESPN reporter Dan Orlovsky thinks Jacksonville can become one of the best offenses of 2023. He believes they have the starpower to compete with the Buffalo Bills, Kansas City Chiefs, and Miami Dolphins' offense.

Orlovsky said:

“We’re talking about an offense that can go punch for punch with Kansas City, with Buffalo, with Miami.”

I agree with Dan. With the addition of Calvin Ridley that offense becomes ELITE. I think they’re a TOP 5 offense. #Jaguars #Jags #DUUUVAL

Orlovsky could be right.

Last season, quarterback Trevor Lawrence saw a big step in production from his rookie season. He more than doubled his touchdown passes (25) while throwing for over 400 more yards (4,113) and threw nine fewer interceptions. He also added three more rushing touchdowns (5) this season.

The team traded running back James Robinson midway through the season and promoted rookie running back, Travis Etienne. Etienne finished the season with over 1,000 rushing yards and five touchdowns.

Tight end Evan Engram and wide receivers Christian Kirk and Zay Jones all shone in their first year with the Jagaurs.

They have all recorded over 70 catches, 700 yards, and scored more than four touchdowns each in their first year with the Jags.

The Jacksonville Jaguars had one of the best turnaround seasons in recent memory in the NFL.

Jaguars over the past 5 seasons:
2018: 5-11, last in AFC South
2019: 6-10, last in AFC South
2020: 1-15, last in AFC South, worst record in NFL
2021: 3-14, last in AFC South, worst record in NFL

2022: 9-8, AFC South champs, advanced to divisional round.

Bright future in Duval.

They went from finishing the 2021-2022 season with a 3-14 record to winning the AFC South division this past season with a 9-8 record.

They had the first-overall pick and selected DL Travon Walker. They added WRs Zay Jones and Christian Kirk in free agency as well as tight end Evan Engram.

Doug Pederson also took over as the team's coach as they moved on from Urban Meyer after one season.
