Week 10 Fantasy Football Start 'Em Sit 'Em Flex picks feat. Justin Herbert, Ray-Ray McCloud

As Week 10 of the fantasy football season begins, we know that every choice is important. Are we grinding the waiver wire to find every diamond in the rough? Are we making trades to buy low and sell high? Have we done everything possible to ensure we’re making the right line decisions? If you’re reading this article, you sure are.

Here is where I drop my flex plays of the week. These are players who are likely on your bench or even the wire, or you’re just not sure about starting every week. I’ll analyze the data and find the best matchups to help us get that all-important win.

Pick’m up and start him! (owned in less than 50% of Yahoo leagues)

1- Justin Herbert (QB, LAC)

Remember back in the preseason when no one thought that the Chargers would throw a forward pass? Since LA’s Week 5 bye, they’ve attempted the fourth- most passes for the third-most yards in the league. Herbert is averaging 286.75 yards per game over that stretch. Sunday, he’ll face the Titans who have allowed multiple touchdowns in three of their last four contests. While not the total pushover you’d expect, Tennessee can be had through the air. Josh Allen torched them for 323 yards in Week 7. If you need a Dak Prescott replacement, Herbert is your best bet.

2- Taysom Hill (TE/QB/Everything, NO)

It’s easy to find a path for touches with Hill. The Saints are decimated by injuries. They need anyone with a pulse to play this week. Hill is the ultimate weapon for them and possibly your team. Owned in just 45% of Yahoo leagues, he offered position variance as he’s listed at QB and TE. Sliding Hill into your flex isn’t the craziest idea. Last week, he played on just 44% of team snaps but saw five targets and carried the ball five times. The Saints even had him throw a pass that fell incomplete. That kind of usage (he scored a rushing TD) will lead to big fantasy days at a position where points are often hard to come by. Hill’s Week 10 opponent, Atlanta, allows the 8th most points to the tight end position.

3- Xavier Legette (WR, CAR)

German fans must love the NFL for sending the Giants and Panthers overseas for their Munich clash. But not all is lost in this one. Legette is a super athletic kid who should be on your rosters and in your lineups for Week 10. He’ll play a Giants team that ranks middle of the pack in terms of points given up to receivers, but they just benched an underperforming corner. A week ago, Washington had two receivers go over 11 PPR points on this defense. Legette has bested that number in two straight and five of his last seven contests.

1- Ray-Ray McCloud (WR, ATL)

We saw McCloud his first receiving touchdown of the season last week. It propelled him to a 12.5-point week and some waiver wire consideration. The play here is watching the Falcons practice reports. Drake London is nursing a hip injury, and his status is up in the air. There’s a good chance we will see McCloud gaining reps this week versus the Saints. Good passing offenses are ripping the injury-riddled Saints. Week 8 saw Ladd McConkey go for 111 yards. Week 6 was Chris Godwin’s turn to snag 11 balls for 125 yards. I think if you’re dead at the position, you can get something from McCloud. He might only get three targets, but his speed can turn that into a big play.

2- Cam Akers (RB, MIN)

We’ve seen Akers assume the second back role in the Vikings offense over Ty Chandler. Last week, that was good for six carries and two targets. That 7.30 PPR points is exactly what desperate managers might need in Week 10. Available in 90% of leagues, he’s at least worth a bench stash in case Aaron Jones gets hurt. This week's opponent, Jacksonville, allows the third most points to opposing backs. I can see some garbage time carries for Akers in this one.
