What happened to Davante Adams? Jets WR heads to locker room after taking heavy hit vs Texans in TNF
New York Jets wide receiver Davante Adams is not having an easy start to his life with the team. After being traded from the Las Vegas Raiders to play with Aaron Rodgers, his friend and former quarterback in the Green Bay Packers, Adams had two losses to start his career in New York
A new chance came up on Thursday Night Football. The Jets hosted the Houston Texans at MetLife Stadium, and the game was close since its very start. The Texans led 7-0 at halftime, but the Jets started to play better on offense, and the wide receiver had four catches in the third quarter.
However, his night was stopped suddenly. Adams had a great play on a fourth down, beating cornerback Kamari Lassiter right at the release of his route. However, he took a hard hit after making the catch and struggled to get up.
He was later deemed questionable to return with a possible concussion.
It wasn't just a head injury that concerned doctors. The receiver fell into the ground in a rather strange way, also creating concerns about a possible neck/spine injury.
However, issues were dissipated midway through the fourth quarter. After checking with the doctors and making sure that nothing serious had happened, the receiver returned to the game as the Jets tried to preserve a 14-10 lead. And they did, with Adams catching a touchdown late in the fourth quarter.
Davante Adams stats: How did the WR fare on Thursday Night Football?
It was a fantastic individual game for the wide receiver. He finished with seven receptions for 91 yards and a touchdown. The Jets broke a five-game losing streak by beating the Texans at home, keeping their season alive with upcoming contests against the Arizona Cardinals and the Indianapolis Colts.
He also was responsible for receiving the onside kick to officially close the game 21-13.
It was the first win for the wide receiver playing alongside Aaron Rodgers since the Packers defeated the Minnesota Vikings 37-10 in Week 17 of the 2021 NFL season. He was traded to the Raiders in the 2022 season and played there for two years before moving again.
